JOB VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

The Wanging'ombe District Council, through the new Employment Permit Ref. No. FA.97/228/01/A/25 dated 29/04/2025, which includes positions for Records Assistant Grade II (4 posts), Office Management Secretary Grade II (5 posts), Driver Grade II (13 posts), and Deckhand Auxiliary (1 post) from the Secretary General, President's Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance. The District Executive Director of Wanging'ombe District Council announces the job vacancies and invites applications from all qualified Tanzanians to fill the positions as specified below:

1.0 RECORDS ASSISTANT GRADE II – 4 POSTS

1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF RECORDS ASSISTANT GRADE II i. Registering incoming correspondence in the register (incoming correspondence register).
ii. Registering outgoing correspondence from the Institution (Outgoing Correspondence Register).
iii. Distributing files to Action Officers.
iv. Receiving files returning to the registry from officers.
v. Searching for records/documents or files required by officers.
vi. Returning files to the file racks/filing cabinets or other storage areas.
vii. Tracking the movement of files within and outside the Institution (File tracking).

1.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Must have Form IV or Form VI education and possess a Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management from a government-recognized institution, with computer skills.

1.1.3 SALARY SCALE
According to Government Salary Scales - TGS C1

1.2 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY GRADE II – 5 POSTS

1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY II
i. Typing letters, schedules, and routine and confidential documents.
ii. Receiving guests and inquiring about their issues, and directing them to the relevant sections for assistance.
iii. Maintaining schedules and records of events, appointments, guests, meeting dates, supervisor's travel plans, and other work schedules.
iv. Searching for files and documents needed for task execution.
v. Receiving files and distributing them to officers in the relevant Department/Unit/Section.
vi. Collecting, maintaining, and returning files and documents to the relevant sections.
vii. Preparing agendas and making arrangements for various meetings, and
viii. Preparing a list of office equipment requirements.

1.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
To be employed, one must have Form IV or Form VI education with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA LEVEL 6 certificate in Secretarial Studies. Furthermore, they must have passed Shorthand in Kiswahili and English at 100 words per minute and acquired office computer software skills such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, and Publisher from any government-recognized college.

1.2.3 SALARY SCALE
According to Government Salary Scales - TGS C1

1.3 DRIVER GRADE II – 13 POSTS

1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DRIVER GRADE II
i. Inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to determine its safety condition.
ii. Transporting staff to various locations on official trips.
iii. Performing minor vehicle repairs.
iv. Collecting and distributing various documents.
v. Filling out and maintaining records of all trips in the log book.
vi. Cleaning the vehicle.
vii. Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

1.3.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Must have Form IV or Form VI education and a Class E or C driving license, with at least one (1) year of accident-free driving experience, along with training certificates that qualified them to obtain the respective license classes. Must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA College or another government-recognized college.

1.3.3 SALARY SCALE
According to Government Salary Scale - TGS B1 per month

1.4 DECKHAND AUXILIARY – 1 POST

1.4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DECKHAND AUXILIARY
i. Checking the safety of fishing boats.
ii. Cleaning the boat.
iii. Maintaining the cleanliness of fishing gear and fish storage containers.
iv. Performing minor repairs on fishing gear, and
v. Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

1.4.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Must be a Form IV graduate with a certificate in Fisheries Technology from colleges of the Fisheries Education and Training Agency (FETA) or a certificate in Ship Servicing from the Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute – DMI or an equivalent qualification from other government-recognized institutions.

1.4.3 SALARY SCALE
According to Government Salary Scales – TGOS A

GENERAL CONDITIONS

i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.

Postgraduate/Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma/Certificates, - Form IV and Form VI examination certificates, - Computer Certificate, - Professional Certificates from Respective Boards);
vi. “Testimonials“, “Provisional Results“, “Statement of results“, Form IV and Form VI results slips WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
vii. Applicants for Driver Grade II positions with Class E or C licenses MUST ATTACH driving training certificates that qualified them to obtain the respective license classes.
viii. All certificates from foreign examination bodies should be verified by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE).
ix. Applicants who have retired from the Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary.
x. Job applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions within the Public Service should not apply and are required to follow the guidelines in Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November 2010.
xi. Presentation of forged information and qualifications will lead to legal action against the involved parties.
