1. Field Worker (8 Posts)

  • Project: Sub-TB project
  • Work Station: Dar es Salaam
  • Reports To: Principal Investigator
  • Application Deadline: 30 August 2025

Position Summary: Responsible for following up with study participants at clinics and their homes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow up with household members of patients at their homes.
  • Take blood and sputum samples from participants.
  • Handle the re-consenting of participants.
  • Identify and manage adverse and severe adverse events.
  • Contribute to the initial development of SOPs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Certificate in nursing, laboratory science, or medicine.
  • Previous research experience.
  • Ability to ride a motorbike.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Patient management skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

2. Study Nurse (1 Post)

  • Project: MTBVAC TB project
  • Work Station: Dar es Salaam
  • Reports To: Principal Investigator
  • Application Deadline: 30 August 2025

Position Summary: Provide nursing care to patients involved in the study.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and store samples.
  • Administer vaccinations to patients.
  • Complete specimen transfer forms.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Nursing.
  • Experience in research.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Patient management skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

3. Clinical Officer (1 Post)

  • Project: MTBVAC TB project
  • Work Station: Dar es Salaam
  • Reports To: Principal Investigator
  • Application Deadline: 30 August 2025

Position Summary: Provide medical care to patients within the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screen and enroll patients.
  • Manage patient care.
  • Identify and manage adverse and severe adverse events.
  • Follow up with patients.
  • Assist in the initial development of SOPs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in clinical medicine.
  • Experience in clinical research.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Patient management skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

4. Research Officer (1 Post)

  • Project: Anopheles Africa II Project
  • Work Station: Ifakara
  • Reports To: Project Leader - Anopheles Africa II Project
  • Application Deadline: 25 August 2025

Position Summary: Conduct field and laboratory research to understand and exploit vulnerabilities in malaria vector species to suppress or eliminate their populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate factors enabling suppression or elimination of malaria vectors.
  • Develop and validate mosquito monitoring tools.
  • Identify and target vulnerabilities in mosquito life stages.
  • Test and adapt elimination strategies.
  • Manage, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Produce reports, manuscripts, and policy briefs, and present findings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Biology, Environmental Health, Biotechnology, Laboratory Sciences, Epidemiology, or related field.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in vector control, entomological surveillance, or similar research.
  • Proficiency in mosquito sampling and identification techniques.
  • Experience with data analysis software (R, Python, Stata).
  • Experience conducting fieldwork in challenging environments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of malaria vector ecology and control methods.
