PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENT FUNDING FOR
STUDENTS PURSUING A DIPLOMA IN SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announces the opportunity for Student Funding at the Diploma level in Special Needs Education. Applications are invited from students pursuing a Diploma in Special Needs Education in the following areas: Intellectual Disability, Autism, Deafness, Deafblindness, and Visual Impairment.

2.0 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR FUNDING
This funding will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria:
a) Must be a Tanzanian;
b) Must have received admission to a Government-recognized Teachers’ College offering a Diploma in Special Needs Education;

3.0 DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
i. A formal application letter indicating the course of study, phone number, and email address;
ii. Certified copies of academic certificates by a lawyer;
iii. A certified copy of the birth certificate by a lawyer; and
iv. A letter from the College Principal confirming admission to the respective college.

4.0 AREAS OF FUNDING
The funding will cover the following areas:
a) Tuition fees;
b) Other college contributions (e.g., security, maintenance, etc.);
c) Teaching and learning materials;
d) Transport allowance; and
e) Health insurance.

5.0 TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF FUNDING
A student who receives funding for the Diploma in Special Needs Education shall be obligated to adhere to the following terms and conditions:
a) Must read, understand, and sign the Funding Agreement Contract between themselves and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology;
b) Must have a bank account for direct receipt of funds;
c) The beneficiary is not permitted to change the program of study for which funding was awarded without the permission of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology;
d) The beneficiary is not allowed to postpone studies, except for medical reasons, certified by a Doctor from a Government-recognized Health Center or Hospital;
e) If the beneficiary withdraws from the funding opportunity, they must submit a written notification to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, through the Principal of the college where they were admitted and registered.

6.0 DURATION OF FUNDING
This funding is for a period of two (02) academic years for students who meet the criteria specified in Section No. 5.

7.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications should be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology within 15 days from August 18 to 28, 2025. Applications should be sent to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, P.O. Box 10 Dodoma. The list of students who will have received this funding will be posted on the Ministry’s website (www.moe.go.tz).
