ANNOUNCEMENT OF JOB VACANCIES
The Rufiji Town Council Director announces job vacancies for Tanzanians who meet the qualifications for two (02) cadres in the Council, following authorization from the President's Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance. The details are as follows:
1.0 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY II - (06 POSITIONS)
1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Typing letters, reports, and both ordinary and confidential documents.
- Assisting in receiving visitors, interviewing them about their needs, and directing them to the relevant section for assistance.
- Assisting in keeping records/information on events, appointments, visitors, meeting dates, the supervisor's travel, and other scheduled work activities in the office, and informing the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Assisting in receiving required files and documents for the execution of their work duties.
- Receiving files and distributing them to the Officers in the relevant Department/Unit/Section.
- Collecting, keeping, and returning files and documents to the relevant sections.
- Arranging key points and preparing for various meetings within the Council.
- Preparing a list of various office requirements.
1.1.1 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a Form Four or Form Six graduate with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA Level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies.
- Must have passed Shorthand in Kiswahili and English at 100 words per minute.
- Must have completed a computer course in office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, and Publisher at a government-recognized institution.
1.1.2 SALARY SCALE
In accordance with the Government Salary Scale TGS C.
2.0 DRIVER II - (04 POSITIONS)
2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspecting the vehicle before and after a journey to ensure its safety condition.
- Transporting staff to various locations for work duties.
- Performing minor vehicle maintenance.
- Distributing various documents.
- Filling and maintaining records of all trips in the logbook.
- Cleaning the vehicle.
- Performing other duties as instructed by their supervisor.
2.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a Form Four (Form IV) certificate holder.
- Must possess a Class E or C driving license and have driven for a period of not less than one (1) year without causing an accident.
- Must have certificates of training that qualify them for the respective license classes.
- Must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or another government-recognized institution.
2.3 SALARY SCALE
In accordance with the Government Salary Scale TGS B.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and not exceeding 45 years.
ii. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and must specify their disability in the job application system for the information of the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat.
iii. All applications must be accompanied by a detailed Curriculum Vitae (C.V) that includes a current address, available phone numbers, and an email address, along with the names of three reliable referees.
iv. All applications must be accompanied by certified copies of academic and professional certificates authenticated by a Lawyer/Advocate. These include Form Four or Form Six certificates for those who reached that level, and certificates for various training courses based on the qualifications for the specific job.
v. Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statement of Results, and Form V/VI results slips WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED and applicants submitting them will not be allowed to proceed with the interview.
vi. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates have been verified and authenticated by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTVET).
vii. Applicants who have been retired from Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have special permission from the Chief Secretary.
viii. Driver II applicants with Class E or C licenses must ATTACH certificates of driving training that qualified them for the respective classes.
ix. Job applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions within the Public Service should not apply, and they must adhere to the instructions outlined in Circular No. CAC. 45/257/01/D/140 dated November 30, 2010.
x. Applicants who submit false or forged information and qualifications will face legal action.
xi. Applicants whose names differ across their documents must submit a Deed Poll (name change affidavit) registered with the Ministry of Lands.

xiii. The deadline for submitting applications is 08 October, 2025.
