JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Mlimba District Council has received the Food Systems, Land Use, and Restoration (FOLUR) Project. This project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the main supervisor of the project is the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. In implementing this project, the Executive Director of Mlimba District Council announces to all citizens of Tanzania who meet the qualifications to apply for the Contract Employment positions listed below:

1.0 FIELD EXTENSION OFFICER (2 POSITIONS)

1.1 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

i. Must have Form Four or Six education with a Bachelor's degree in the fields of Agriculture (Agricultural Development), Natural Resource Management, Land Use Management, Environmental Studies, Community Development, or Social Sciences.
ii. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in planning and implementation, community mobilization and engagement within Tanzania.
iii. Experience in the execution of Natural Resource Management projects implemented by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or the Government will be given priority.
iv. Must have experience in gender mainstreaming and women's empowerment, especially in natural resource management projects.
v. Must possess leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
vi. Must have experience working with traditional leaders and communities, especially marginalized groups, and collaborating with multi-sectoral teams and governmental officials.
vii. Must have interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at the District and community levels.
viii. Must be proficient in speaking and writing both English and Kiswahili.
ix. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motorcycle.

1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Assisting in coordinating meetings and seminars for the community and other stakeholders.
ii. Implementing initiatives to strengthen project communities through the sustainable resource uses of forests, water, and land resources.
iii. Working closely with communities, traditional leaders, and District and Regional offices and other Government Departments to build synergy and support in the implementation of activities.
iv. Working with the Landscape Coordinator to prepare methodologies and implementation plans for delivering project results and activities in close collaboration with technical experts.
v. Working with District Extension Officers and implementation partners to build awareness of project processes and technical requirements related to the project work plans.
vi. Recording field activities information and providing inputs to the semi-annual and annual reports regarding project progress and impact in partnership with the Landscape Coordinator.
vii. Reporting on the status of project activities to support the Results Framework and Work Plan Tracking for the WWF-GEF project at the end of each project year.
viii. Providing inputs on the preparation of the project Work Plan and participating in project management meetings and annual reflection workshops to enable adaptive management of the project.
ix. Facilitating logistical support and technical inputs for project monitoring and evaluation.
x. Engaging communities in addressing grievances and serving as a reliable person for submitting grievances from the communities.
xi. Performing any other duties as assigned by the Landscape Coordinator.

1.3 SALARY SCALE

The salary scale is in accordance with the procedures set by the project supervisors.

1.4 EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

The terms of this employment are a One (1) year Contract which is renewable up to Four (4) years.

2.0 IMPORTANT POINTS FOR THE APPLICANT TO CONSIDER

i. The applicant must be a Citizen of Tanzania and be aged not less than eighteen (18) years and not more than forty-five (45) years.
ii. The applicant must attach a Birth Certificate.
iii. The applicant must attach their Curriculum Vitae (CV).
iv. The application letter must be handwritten.
v. The applicant must attach a National ID (NIDA) or have a National ID Number (NIDA).
vi. All applications must be accompanied by copies of Academic Certificates, Form Four (IV) or Form Four and Six (Form IV and Form VI) Certificates, Birth Certificate, and two (2) color passport size photos which should be labeled with the name on the back.
vii. All applicants who studied outside the country must ensure their certificates have been verified by the relevant authorities (TCU and NACTE), and the verification report must be attached to the application.
viii. Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statement of Results, and Result Slips WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
ix. Legal action will be taken against individuals who submit forged information and qualifications.

The deadline for receiving application letters is 10 October 2025 at 9:30 AM in the morning.

3.0 HOW TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS

  • Copies of Academic and Professional Certificates
  • Birth Certificate
  • Two (2) "passport size" photos
