GEITA REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL
Geita Regional Referral Hospital started as a Council Hospital in June 2016 after its designation by the Ministry of Health with the aim of enabling the then Council Hospital to provide regional referral hospital services, offer technical support to lower-level health facilities, and support training institutions within the region.
The hospital is located in Geita Town Council, which serves as the headquarters of Geita Region. The region lies between latitudes 2°8’ and 3°28’ South of the equator and longitudes 31°15’ and 32°48’ East of Greenwich, with an altitude ranging from 1,100 to 1,300 meters above sea level. Geita Region shares borders with Kagera Region to the west and north, Shinyanga Region to the south and southeast, and Mwanza Region to the north.

According to the 2022 national census, Geita Region had a total population of 2,977,608 people, with 1,463,764 males and 1,513,844 females. The hospital’s catchment area covers Geita Town, Geita, Chato, Bukombe, Mbogwe, and Nyang’hwale Districts.
