Position Title: LED Perimeter Technician

Job Purpose:
To ensure smooth operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and timely replacement of LED perimeter boards and their associated components, guaranteeing uninterrupted display quality during live productions, sports events, and commercial broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operation & Monitoring
  • Monitor LED perimeter screens during events to ensure flawless display performance.
  • Verify input signals from media servers, video processors, and related devices.
  • Ensure correct synchronization between sending/receiving cards, media converters, and control systems.
  1. Troubleshooting & Repairs
  • Identify and resolve faults in LED modules, sending/receiving cards, and power/data cables.
  • Perform on-site diagnostics to fix pixel drops, color mismatches, dead modules, or signal loss.
  • Replace defective modules, cards, or power supplies promptly with minimal downtime.
  1. Routine & Preventive Maintenance
  • Conduct regular inspections of LED panels, cabling, and power systems.
  • Clean modules, connectors, and cooling systems to prevent dust or overheating issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and generate reports on equipment condition.
  1. Upgrades & Replacement Advisory
  • Provide timely recommendations for replacement of aging LED modules, cards, and converters.
  • Advise management on spare parts inventory (modules, cards, power supplies, cables).
  • Support system upgrades, firmware updates, and calibration of LED boards.
  1. Technical Coordination
  • Coordinate with broadcast engineers, IT, and operations teams for signal integration.
  • Ensure compatibility of LED systems with video processors, converters, and broadcast feeds.
  • Assist in setup, dismantling, and reconfiguration of LED perimeter systems for events.
  1. Compliance & Safety
  • Follow safety standards during handling of electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Ensure all systems comply with broadcast and venue operational requirements.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of LED display systems, sending/receiving cards (e.g., NovaStar, ColorLight, Linsn).
  • Hands-on experience with video processors, media converters, and signal distribution.
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, fiber optics, and SDI/HDMI/DVI connections.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance practices for electronic equipment.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and event days.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience working with LED display systems (preferably in live broadcast/sports environments).
  • Experience with event-based LED perimeter advertising systems is an added advantage.
