PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
COMPLETION OF THE FIRST ROUND AND OPENING OF THE SECOND ROUND OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR
1.0 COMPLETION OF THE FIRST ADMISSION ROUND 2025/2026
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) informs the public, Higher Education Institutions, and stakeholders that the First Round of undergraduate admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year has been completed. The names of those admitted in this round are being announced by the respective institutions.
In the First Round of admissions, a total of 146,879 applicants applied for admission to 88 institutions approved to admit undergraduate students. Furthermore, a total of 894 programmes were approved for admission compared to 856 programmes in 2024/2025, which is an increase of 38 study programmes. Regarding admission slots, this year there are a total of 205,652 slots compared to 198,986 slots last year. This is an increase of 6,666 slots, equivalent to 3.3 percent in undergraduate programmes. In this First Round, a total of 116,596 applicants, equivalent to 79.4 percent of all applicants, have been admitted to the institutions they applied to.
2.0 APPLICANTS ADMITTED TO MORE THAN ONE INSTITUTION
Applicants admitted to more than one institution must confirm their admission in one of the institutions starting from today, the 03rd to the 21st of September, 2025. This confirmation is done using a special secret number sent via a short message to their phone numbers or email addresses used during the application. Those who do not receive the message on time are advised to log into the admission systems of the institutions where they were admitted and request the short message with the special secret number to be sent to them to confirm their admission. Furthermore, admission confirmation should be done through the account the applicant used when applying. For ease of reference, the list of names of those admitted to more than one institution is available on the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz).
3.0 OPENING OF THE SECOND ADMISSION ROUND 2025/2026
The Commission announces that the Second Round of undergraduate admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year has started today, the 03rd, and will run until the 21st of September, 2025. The Commission advises applicants who were unable to apply for admission or who were not admitted in the First Round for various reasons to use this opportunity well by sending their applications to their preferred institutions. Additionally, the Commission directs Higher Education Institutions in the country to advertise programmes that still have vacant slots. Applicants and institutions must adhere to the Second Round admission procedures as shown in the admission calendar available on the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz).
4.0 A CALL TO APPLICANTS
Undergraduate applicants are reminded that all matters concerning admission or confirming admission to a single institution should be submitted directly to the respective institutions. For those who may face challenges in confirming their admission, all institutions have been instructed to receive their information and find quick solutions in accordance with the established guidelines and procedures.
