Mbeya Cement Company Limited, a member of Amsons Group, is seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals for the following positions to be based at the Mbeya Plant under a permanent employment contract.

1. MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
The reporting line for the position is to the Mechanical Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities:
a) Report on resource and time usage, job scope expansions, rework, or deferred maintenance as necessary, and ensure all tasks and activities are logged and updated.
b) Implement routine Preventive Maintenance checks, including vibration and temperature inspections on designated rotating equipment, and ensure accurate logging and recording of all readings.
c) Repair static equipment as needed, including valves, pipework, pressure vessels, and tanks, among other components.
d) Ensure compliance with standards, tolerances, and fits, and apply sound engineering practices to all tasks within your purview, whether on-site or occasionally in contractor workshops.
e) Troubleshoot and conduct basic Root Cause Analysis for equipment and machinery, identifying any issues and reporting them accordingly.
f) Execute all planned mechanical activities while adhering to the required safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in manufacturing/ extractive industries

Technical/ Behavioral Competencies Required:
a) Mechanical upgrading skills (Fitter, Welding, and Turning).
b) Belt splicing technology (Cold repair, cold and hot splicing, pulley lagging, and belt alignment).
c) Bearing technology and lubrication.
d) Hands-on experience with equipment.
e) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

2. ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
The reporting line for the position is to the Electrical Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities:
a) Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical/electronic wiring, equipment appliances and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
b) Troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical systems using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdown and fault solving.
c) Diagnose the electrical circuit breakers, transformers and other components to make sure they operate at full capacity.
d) Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and needs for adjustment or repairs and corrects all findings as per standards.
e) Test electrical systems and continuity of circuitry in electrical equipment and fixtures, using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
f) Repair/replace wiring, equipment and fixtures to install ground lead and connect power cables to equipment such as Motors.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in manufacturing/ extractive industries

Technical/ Behavioral Competencies Required:
a) Technical knowledge in cement manufacturing process
b) Technical knowledge of electrical maintenance operations and equipment
c) Technical knowledge in Electricity distribution and transmission
d) Ability to multi-task effectively
e) High level of integrity and self-discipline
f) Innovation
g) Proficiency in MS Office applications

3. INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN
The reporting line for the position is to the Instrumentation & Automation Engineer.

Main Responsibilities:
a) Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
b) Calibrate instruments according to the standards and for easier use.
c) Disassemble instruments, examine mechanism, clean parts, replace worn or broken parts.
d) Disconnect inaccurate or damaged instruments and make the suitable replacements.
e) Conduct scheduled inspections of instrument and make adjustments to those not functioning.
f) Check integrity and accuracy of flowmeters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, weigh scales and other plant instruments, and clean and dust instruments and check via testing apparatus.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Full Technician Certificate (FTC) / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics and any other related field
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in manufacturing/ extractive industry

Technical/ Behavioral Competencies Required:
a) Strong technical knowledge of electrical maintenance operations and equipment
b) Knowledge in Electrical and Electronics
c) Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
d) Proficiency in MS Office applications
