ANNOUNCEMENT OF JOB VACANCIES FOR RURAL REVENUE COLLECTORS – 114 POSITIONS
The District Executive Director of Chemba District Council is pleased to announce job vacancies for qualified Tanzanian citizens to serve as Revenue Collectors under the following terms:
1. QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS:
i) Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
ii) Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
iii) Must have completed at least Standard Seven (Primary Education) or higher.
iv) Must be a resident of Chemba District Council.
v) Must provide a guarantor (spouse, parent, or any person with immovable assets such as land or a house) to vouch for them during the contract signing process.
vi) Must have no criminal record or prior conviction in any court of law.
vii) Must be willing to work in any area within Chemba District Council.
viii) Individuals who previously worked for the Council and caused financial losses or were found liable for revenue mismanagement are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.
ix) Must possess a valid NIDA number for registration as a Revenue Collector.
2. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a) A handwritten application letter addressed to the Village or Ward Executive Officer.
b) The application must include recent passport-sized photographs of both the applicant and their guarantor.
3. DUTIES OF A REVENUE COLLECTOR:
i) Collect revenue for the Council through various sources within Chemba District using an Electronic Point of Sale (POS) machine.
ii) Deposit all collected revenue into the Council’s bank account promptly, either on the same working day, the first working day of the week, or after a public holiday.
iii) Issue electronic POS receipts equivalent to the amount received from payers.
iv) Safeguard revenue collection equipment (POS machines, registers) and bank or Council documents verifying deposits.
v) Conduct daily reconciliations of collected revenue and submit reports on POS machine transactions.
vi) Submit the POS machine to the Council for periodic inspection/audit.
vii) Perform other revenue-related duties as assigned by the employer.
4. EMPLOYMENT TERMS & DURATION:
i) This is a six-month contract position, starting from August 2025 to January 2026.
ii) The Revenue Collector will be under the supervision of the respective Ward or Village Executive Officer.
iii) Contract renewal will be based on performance in revenue collection.
5. REMUNERATION:
The Revenue Collector will receive a 5% commission on all revenue collected and deposited into the Council’s bank account on time.
