OPENING OF THE ADMISSION WINDOW FOR FIRST DEGREE APPLICANTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN TANZANIA FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) is pleased to inform the public, Higher Education Institutions, and all stakeholders within and outside the country that the application window for First Degree admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year is now open, starting today, 15th July 2025. This window will remain open until 10th August 2025.

2.0 ADMISSION APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

2.1 Categories of Admission Applicants
First Degree admission applications are open to three categories of applicants:
a) Those with eligible Advanced Level (Form Six) qualifications;
b) Those with eligible Diploma qualifications or equivalent; and
c) Those with eligible Foundation Certificates from the Open University of Tanzania.

To understand the eligibility criteria for the three categories mentioned above, the approved programs and institutions, applicants are advised to review the guidelines provided in the TCU Admission Guidebooks for Bachelor’s Degree Programs (2025/2026 Academic Year), available on the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz).

2.2 Application Submission Procedure
a) Applications must be submitted directly to the institutions of choice, along with the preferred study programs.
b) Specific instructions on how to submit applications are provided by the respective institutions.

2.3 Eligibility Criteria and Applicant Qualifications
The criteria and qualifications for various study programs are available on the websites of the respective institutions and in the TCU Admission Guidebooks, accessible on the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz).

2.4 Important Considerations for Applicants
a) Carefully read and understand the TCU admission guidelines and specific instructions from the institutions before submitting applications.
b) Visit the institutions’ websites or contact them directly to understand the application procedures and obtain detailed information about study programs to ensure satisfaction before applying.
c) Submit applications directly to the institutions through their designated electronic systems.
d) Tanzanian applicants with certificates issued by foreign examination boards must submit their certificates to the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for secondary education or the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) for Diploma qualifications to obtain equivalency validation before applying for admission.
e) Non-Tanzanian applicants with certificates issued by foreign examination boards must submit their applications directly through the respective institutions’ systems.

The Commission encourages all applicants to seek accurate information through the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz), the websites of approved institutions offering First Degree programs, and various announcements made by TCU through the media.

3.0 CAUTION
The Commission urges all First Degree applicants to contact the respective institutions directly if they require clarification on any admission-related matter. For general inquiries, applicants may contact TCU via email at [email protected].

Additionally, the Commission warns the public to beware of fraudsters posing as agents or advisors claiming to offer services for joining higher education institutions in the country.
