JOB VACANCIES AT MKWAWA LEAF TOBACCO LIMITED (MLTL)
Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited (MLTL) invites applications from suitable and qualified candidates to fill the following vacancies:

1. GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICE TECHNICIANS (GAP TECHNICIANS) – 38 POSITIONS

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular visits to farmers to assess and record all activities and provide feedback to company representatives.
  • Ensure farmers adhere to all Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) and Agricultural Labour Practice (ALP) procedures.
  • Conduct NTRM risk assessments and barn compliance assessments.
  • Assist in the preparation of production estimates.
  • Carry out plant count exercises, crop surveys, and bale counts as per company standards.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to farmers on seedbeds, field management, harvest, and market preparation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with farmers and primary society leaders to protect the company’s image.
  • Perform all tasks in line with company EHS standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in General Agriculture, Crop Production, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or related fields.
  • Experience in extension services and outreach programs.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Good communication and training skills (training experience is an added advantage).

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid motorbike driver’s license.
  • Willingness to live and work in remote areas.

Reporting:
Reports directly to the Agronomy Area Coordinator on day-to-day activities.

2. BARN UPGRADE PROJECT SUPERVISORS – 04 POSITIONS

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Promote the barn upgrade project among contracted Primary Societies (PS) and assist them with preparations (burnt bricks, water, sand).
  • Compile lists of eligible farmers and barns for upgrade.
  • Allocate barns to vendors and supervise activities according to technical and safety standards.
  • Monitor progress, provide reports, and ensure timely completion.
  • Inspect, test, and sign off on upgraded barns after farmer approval.
  • Coordinate with GAP Technicians, society leaders, farmers, and stakeholders.
  • Resolve on-site challenges and provide after-sales support.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture, Forestry, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
  • Computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Strong communication, supervision, planning, and organizational abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in barn construction projects and basic GIS knowledge are added advantages.
  • Valid driving license and motorbike riding skills are mandatory.

Additional Requirements:

  • Competence in motorbike driving with a valid license.
  • Ability to travel to project sites.
  • Willingness to live and work in remote areas.

Reporting:
Reports directly to the Agronomy Area Coordinator on day-to-day activities.

REMUNERATION:
The salary offered for these positions is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
