- DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR FOR FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION (DVC-AF) – 1 POSITION
Job Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
The Council of Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT) seeks to recruit a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) from suitably qualified and competent individuals with excellent credentials. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor shall work under the directives of the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for Administration and Finance is the principal assistant to the Vice-Chancellor in all matters pertaining to the administration of the University, including administration of funds, planning, and management of assets. The office holder will act as Vice-Chancellor in the absence of both the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for Academic, Research and Consultancy. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sound financial and administrative policies in line with the University’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
Academic Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Be a Professor or Associate Professor of a recognized university with an earned PhD in a relevant discipline.
- At least five (5) years of proven experience in management, leadership, and administration, three (3) of which must be at senior level in a reputable institution.
- Good knowledge and skills in financial management and resource mobilization.
- Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, policy making, and implementation in higher education.
- Knowledge of the relevant policy and legal framework for financial management in higher education in Tanzania.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- INTERNAL AUDITOR – 1 POSITION

Summary Description:
Responsible for evaluating and ensuring that the organization’s internal controls and financial records are accurate, effective, and compliant with regulations. The role involves identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and risk management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants must possess full professional qualifications such as CPA (T), ACCA, or ACA, with not less than three (3) years of working experience in a similar position in a reputable organization.
- UNIVERSITY BURSAR – 1 POSITION
Reports to: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance)
Job Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
Summary Description:
SUMAIT seeks to recruit an energetic, innovative, and solution-oriented candidate to fill the position of University Bursar. The University Bursar shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) for the financial administration of the University.
Academic Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA (Tanzania), ACCA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- At least five (5) years of experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or the public sector.
- Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, audits, procurement, and compliance with national financial regulations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – 1 POSITION

Position Summary:
Responsible for planning, configuring, maintaining, and securing the University’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, ERP/LMS systems, and backup solutions to support academic and administrative operations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in systems administration, preferably in higher education.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Server+/Security+, ITIL, RHCE, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
- ACADEMIC POSITIONS – 5 POSTS
Faculty of Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences
Job Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania
Positions:
- Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity – Two (2)
- Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence – Two (2)
- Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Science – One (1)
Qualifications for Cybersecurity:
- PhD in Cybersecurity or related field, or PhD in Computer Science/IT with research focus in Cybersecurity.
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or related field, or Master’s in Computer Science/IT with GPA of at least 4.0.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with GPA of at least 3.5.
Qualifications for Data Science/AI:
- PhD in Data Science or related field, or PhD in Computer Science/IT with research focus in Data Science/AI.
- Master’s degree in Data Science or related field, or Master’s in Computer Science/IT with GPA of at least 4.0.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with GPA of at least 3.5.
