Lab Technicians (3 Positions)
Position Summary
Nyati Mineral Sands seeks to employ qualified Lab Technicians specializing in heavy liquid techniques for the identification of total heavy mineral sands. The successful candidates will perform various laboratory tasks and contribute to the exploration team in target generation across Nyati Mineral Sands operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, label, and analyze samples from site.
- Design and execute laboratory testing in accordance with standard operating procedures, including making observations and interpreting results.
- Use heavy liquid reagents and other non-destructive testing methods for heavy mineral sands identification.
- Collaborate with the geology team and production engineers to support project objectives.
- Organize and store all chemicals, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
- Record all data and results accurately and responsibly in specified forms (paper and electronic).
- Maintain laboratory equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
- Ensure all safety guidelines are strictly followed at all times and maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings to the management team.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience with heavy liquid separation techniques in mineral analysis is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Mining industry experience is mandatory.
Skills and Knowledge
- Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills, able to provide technical expertise and guidance, and capable of building rapport with team members and external agencies.
- Ability to speak and write good English is required.
- A valid Tanzania Driving License is an added advantage.
