JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Mbalizi-Ifisi Hospital is located 20 kilometers west of Mbeya City, along the Tunduma–Zambia highway, slightly outside the small town of Mbalizi, in Ikumbi Ifisi Village.
Mbalizi Hospital has received approval to recruit new employees from the Secretary General of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania through Ref. No. MH/GC/TEC/01/2025. The Hospital therefore invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for employment under the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania in various positions. These positions are replacements for employees who have left.
In order to ensure that Tanzanians who are employed meet the required qualifications, applicants are required to observe the qualifications and criteria for each position as outlined below:
- MEDICAL DOCTOR II – (3 Positions)
A) QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a Doctor of Medicine degree from a Government-recognized institution and must have completed internship training.
Must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
B) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To provide all medical services at the hospital related to various diseases, including pediatric conditions, maternal health, and both routine and emergency surgeries.
ii. To provide and supervise health education and promote community health improvement within the District, Region, or area of work.
iii. To investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
iv. To maintain health statistics and use them in accordance with MTUHA guidelines.
v. To plan and evaluate health services in the area of work.
vi. To train students and existing staff at the workplace.
vii. To supervise and develop staff under his/her leadership.
viii. To teach students in health training institutions within the area of work.
ix. To design and conduct research and disseminate results.
x. To develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of professional services.
xi. To prepare plans and budget estimates for health services.
xii. To participate in, review, and improve health services (medical audit and quality improvement).
xiii. To provide outreach services within the District/Region.
xiv. To perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor related to education, experience, and skills.
Salary:
The successful candidate will start at TGHS E salary scale.
- GENERAL SURGEON – (1 Position)
A) QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a Master of Medicine (M.Med) degree in Surgery of three years or more from a Government-recognized university.
Must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
B) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To attend to all patients with surgical conditions and conduct thorough examinations to determine whether surgery is required.
ii. To decide on the type of surgery and explain it to the patient, including preparing pre-operative management.
iii. To perform all required surgical procedures skillfully and carefully using appropriate equipment.
iv. To supervise the operating theatre team and act as a link between the surgical ward and operating theatre team.
v. To plan surgical schedules and prepare patient lists one day before surgery.
vi. To monitor patients’ post-operative condition, ensure pain management, and prevent infections or complications.
vii. To advise patients and relatives on wound care, dressing schedules, and lifestyle changes after surgery.
viii. To work collaboratively with other doctors, nurses, and anesthetists to support patient care.
ix. To perform any other duties assigned by the employer or supervisor.
Salary:
The Hospital will pay a salary higher than the Government scale, i.e., above TGHS G.
- SPECIALIST PHYSICIAN (INTERNAL MEDICINE) – (1 Position)
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a Master of Medicine (M.Med) degree in Internal Medicine of three years or more from a Government-recognized university.
Must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
Salary:
The salary scale is different from the Government scale, i.e., above TGS E.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
• All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years. • Applicants must attach a curriculum vitae with reliable contact address, phone number, email address, and three referees. • Applicants must attach copies of Form IV certificate, Form VI certificate, birth certificate, professional certificates, professional license, and internship certificate (for doctors). • Provisional results, testimonials, or statements of results will not be accepted. • Applicants who submit forged certificates will face legal action. • Applicants with foreign Form IV certificates must have them verified and authenticated by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA). • Application letters must be handwritten in either Kiswahili or English. • Applicants must attach a National Identification Number (NIDA). • Each application letter must be accompanied by two recent passport-size photographs, full residential address, and phone number. • All applications must be sent by post, letter, or delivered by hand to the Office of the Hospital Secretary at the District level. • All application letters must be handwritten and include reliable phone numbers.
