Health Volunteer – Assistant Nursing Officer (25 Posts)

Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves as a healthcare social enterprise through development programmes in the community and for the most vulnerable. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive Maternal and Newborn Healthcare (MNHC) activities, including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

To strengthen our nursing department, CCBRT is looking for dynamic and experienced Assistant Nursing Officers (Health Volunteers) to provide clinical nursing care at CCBRT in their respective allocated areas (OPD, IPD, or OTD).

The Role

As an Assistant Nursing Officer, you will be expected to provide nursing care in accordance with quality and safety regulations and standards, including maintaining patients’ dignity at all times. You will ensure all necessary preparations are completed before the patient sees the doctor or goes to consulting rooms/theatre. You will also assist doctors during patient examinations and/or surgeries, as well as translate information between patients and doctors from Kiswahili to English and vice versa where language barriers exist.

You will communicate sensitive information concerning patients’ medical conditions, counsel patients, perform clinical procedures, ensure proper record-keeping of all activities, and control patient flow within the clinical area.

The Candidate

Applicants should possess:

  • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Registration and a valid licence from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
  • Flexibility, multitasking ability, proactiveness, and eagerness to learn.
