PUBLIC NOTICE

OPENING OF THE ADMISSION WINDOW FOR APPLICANTS TO FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN TANZANIA FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) wishes to inform the public, Higher Education Institutions, and all stakeholders in the education sector that the admission window for applicants seeking admission into First Degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year has officially opened today, 10 July 2026. The admission window will remain open until 10 August 2026.

2.0 ADMISSION APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR

2.1 Categories of Applicants

Applications for admission into First Degree programmes are open to the following three categories of applicants:

a) Applicants with qualifications equivalent to the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) (Form Six).

b) Applicants with a Diploma qualification or its equivalent.

c) Applicants with a Foundation Certificate qualification from the Open University of Tanzania.

To understand the eligibility requirements for the above categories, applicants are advised to consult the admission guidelines and programme entry requirements published by TCU in the Bachelor’s Degree Admission Guidebooks for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, available on the TCU website: www.tcu.go.tz.

2.2 Application Submission Procedures

a) Applications should be submitted separately to each university selected by the applicant for the intended programme of study.

b) Specific instructions on how to submit applications are provided by the respective universities.

2.3 Programme Entry Requirements

Entry qualifications for various academic programmes are available on the websites of the respective universities and in the admission guidebooks published on the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz).

2.4 Important Matters for Applicants to Consider

a) Read carefully and understand the admission guidelines issued by TCU together with the specific instructions provided by each university before submitting an application.

b) Visit university websites and communicate directly with individual universities to obtain detailed information about programmes before applying.

c) Submit applications electronically through the admission systems established by the respective universities.

d) Tanzanian applicants holding certificates issued by foreign examination boards must first submit their certificates to the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for secondary education qualifications, or to the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) for diploma qualifications, in order to obtain equivalence confirmation before applying.

e) Non-Tanzanian applicants with certificates issued by foreign examination boards should submit their applications directly through the admission systems of the respective universities.

The Commission encourages all applicants to continue obtaining accurate information through the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz), the websites of universities authorized to admit First Degree students, and other official information channels issued by TCU.

3.0 WARNING

The Commission cautions all applicants for First Degree admission that if they encounter any difficulties while seeking admission, they should communicate directly with the respective university. In addition, for general inquiries, applicants may contact TCU through the email address [email protected].

The Commission also urges the public to avoid being deceived by individuals or advisors who claim to provide admission services to higher education institutions in the country.
