Watoto Salama Foundation (WSF) is a registered Tanzanian NGO (Reg. No. 00NGO/R/8280) headquartered in Kasulu Town, Kigoma Region. WSF works to protect children and empower youth through community-driven, rights-based, and inclusive programs spanning child protection, GBV prevention, gender equality, nutrition, livelihood support, climate resilience, and youth empowerment.
In preparation for upcoming projects and in line with our growth strategy, WSF is seeking motivated, passionate, and community-oriented young professionals to join our team in intern capacities across program and operations departments.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
These positions are intern/volunteer roles. No salary is payable at this time. Successful candidates may receive a stipend subject to project funding confirmation.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
1. Project Officer – Education
Department: Programs
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide technical inputs in the preparation and implementation of detailed work plans to facilitate the timely delivery of project activities in accordance with approved project documents and budget.
- Support the Education Unit in coordinating and overseeing day-to-day program activities to ensure implementation in line with agreed work plans and timelines.
- Liaise with local implementing partners to support quality and timely delivery of project activities.
- Ensure the delivery of quality outputs, including training materials, guidelines, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Facilitate collaboration between WSF, regional, district, ward education units, and other stakeholders.
- Support liaison with development partners to strengthen collaboration.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Analyze program performance data to identify achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Support preparation of progress reports and donor briefs.
- Participate in workshops, training sessions, and other capacity-building activities.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge products that sustain education interventions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Education, Community Development, Sociology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in educational programming or school-based work.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
2. Project Officer – Child Protection
Department: Programs
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct and update situation analyses for child protection programs.
- Provide technical and operational support throughout project implementation.
- Prepare program documentation and materials.
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to resolve implementation challenges.
- Participate in monitoring, evaluation, and program reviews.
- Monitor utilization of program resources and ensure accountability.
- Prepare regular program reports.
- Conduct field visits and provide technical support.
- Research and document best practices in child protection.
- Build partnerships to strengthen child protection interventions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, Rural Development, Theology, or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of experience in child protection or related fields.
- NGO experience is an added advantage.
- Experience in development and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
- Strong computer, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
3. Project Officer – Youth Engagement
Department: Programs
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support implementation of youth-focused project activities.
- Mobilize youth and organize community-based activities.
- Coordinate project budgets, training, supervision, and partnerships.
- Promote youth life skills, entrepreneurship, and healthy behaviors.
- Collaborate with local government, CBOs, youth organizations, and communities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Public Health, Sociology, Community Development, Social Work, Rural Economics, or related field.
- At least one (1) year of project implementation experience.
- Experience coordinating training, meetings, mentorship, and field activities.
- Good organizational and report-writing skills.
- Experience in youth life skills and entrepreneurship projects.
- Experience working within consortiums is an advantage.
4. Project Officer – Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion (GEDSI)
Department: Programs
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the gender technical program.
- Promote safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Conduct GBV awareness sessions.
- Monitor gender and safeguarding indicators.
- Review project materials for gender responsiveness and inclusivity.
- Coordinate GEDSI activities.
- Support implementation of monthly action plans.
- Collaborate with local resource persons and gender groups.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Social Development, Community Development, Gender Studies, or related field.
- Postgraduate studies in relevant fields are an added advantage.
5. Project Officer – Livelihoods
Department: Programs
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee livelihoods activities.
- Lead strategic planning of livelihoods interventions.
- Engage communities and stakeholders.
- Plan and supervise livelihood programs.
- Conduct market assessments and needs analyses.
- Monitor project implementation and partner performance.
- Build capacity of staff and partners.
- Represent WSF in coordination meetings.
- Prepare donor reports and progress updates.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, or related field with one (1) year of experience; or
- Advanced Degree in a related field with relevant experience.
- Experience in livelihood programming and community resilience.
- Experience working with government and development partners.
Skills
- Program implementation, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Stakeholder coordination.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the WSF project management cycle.

6. Administration & Logistics Officer
Department: Operations & Administration
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain good relationships with service providers.
- Support administrative operations.
- Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Process purchase requisitions.
- Manage procurement processes.
- Prepare procurement records.
- Coordinate supplier quotations and orders.
- Assist in preparing procurement specifications.
- Administer contracts and supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies.
- Support office financial and administrative procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
7. Finance Officer
Department: Finance
Type: Internship (Stipend-Based)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and monitor project budgets.
- Collaborate with project teams on budget utilization.
- Conduct financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Prepare donor and board financial reports.
- Maintain financial records.
- Support audits and compliance.
- Coordinate financial reporting.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- CPA or ACCA progress is an added advantage.
- Basic experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Strong numerical accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
General Requirements for All Positions
- Fresh graduate or up to two (2) years of post-graduation experience.
- Commitment to child protection, gender equality, and community development.
- Willingness to work in community and field settings in Kigoma Region.
- Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Proficiency in Kiswahili; working knowledge of English is an added advantage.
- Partnership development and management skills.
