Job Announcement: Quality and Safety Officer

Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves – as a healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes – the community and the most vulnerable. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities, including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

For the expansion of our services and strengthening our existing team, we are looking for a Quality and Safety Officer who is eager to work at CCBRT Hospital.

The Role

The Quality and Safety Officer supports the Quality Assurance Department in the organization by monitoring and assessing all levels and areas in the implementation of quality services. The role also leads the implementation of the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan and Nursing & Midwifery audits.

Responsibilities

  • Define, coordinate, and control the structure and framework of the Quality Management System (QMS) through the Quality Assurance Unit.
  • Lead and support the implementation of 5S, KAIZEN, Total Quality Management (TQM), and Lean initiatives across the organization.
  • Define the Quality Management System and incorporate it into the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Conduct internal 5S, KAIZEN, TQM, and Lean training and awareness sessions for staff.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Department in implementing quality-related structures and processes within Nursing and Midwifery services.
  • Support the Head of Quality Assurance in all daily quality-related activities.
  • Conduct internal quality audits and follow up on audit findings.
  • Prepare quality reports.
  • Support the hospital's complaint management process related to quality issues.
  • Support scientific problem-solving processes.
  • Monitor and assess the implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan across all levels and departments.
  • Ensure compliance with the agreed Quality Management System.
  • Assess documentation and provide capacity building to address identified gaps.
  • Support departments in improving processes, procedures, and guidelines, as well as drafting and reviewing new documents.
  • Plan and conduct annual quality-related training sessions.
  • Lead the implementation of the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Collect client feedback and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Conduct capacity-building sessions for teams based on customer feedback improvement areas.
  • Support the review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Communicate progress on the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
  • Coordinate internal Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) assessments.
  • Perform Nursing and Clinical audits.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in General Nursing, Midwifery, Psychiatric Nursing, or Nursing Administration.
  • More than six years of clinical experience.
  • Experience working in a Quality Assurance section is an added advantage.
  • Strong clinical skills and expertise in managing different categories of patients.
  • Adult training, coaching, and mentoring skills across different professional cadres.
  • Ability to mobilize teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to perform clinical audits.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good communication skills in both Swahili and English.
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
