DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoot underground Operational Technology network problems.
- Carry out splicing and fusing of fibre optic cables for new installations and repairs.
- Install, test and commission new underground OT infrastructure.

- Register newly installed underground devices and update network topology.

JOB PURPOSE

JOB PURPOSE
To carry out underground production drilling of precise blast holes into ore bodies, as well as service holes and cable-bolt holes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate longhole drilling equipment safely and productively according to OEM specifications.
- Meet or exceed daily production targets.
- Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling techniques accordingly.
- Manage drilling components to prevent drifter, shank, rotation and hole-related problems.
- Un-bog and remove rods using approved procedures.
- Consult the Supervisor and Planning Engineer where drilling problems cannot be resolved.
- Remove cuttings and sludge to keep drill holes clean.
- Accurately record metres drilled, re-drills, ground conditions, delays, hole variations, hazards and consumables.
- Protect equipment by operating within RPM limits and approved best practices.
- Perform operator maintenance.
- Work with minimal supervision and target approximately 125–200 metres per shift.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of Secondary School Education, Advanced Level Education or Diploma in Mining or Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid Driving Licence is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years' underground mining experience, starting in development or as an underground operator before transitioning to a solo rig.
