1. ANALYST, OPERATION TECHNOLOGY

JOB PURPOSE

To provide operational technology support to underground mining operations across Star & Comet, Nyankanga and Geita Hill, ensuring reliable network connectivity, communications and technology infrastructure required for safe, efficient and continuous production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Troubleshoot underground Operational Technology network problems.
• Carry out splicing and fusing of fibre optic cables for new installations and repairs.
• Install, test and commission new underground OT infrastructure.
• Perform preventive maintenance on underground OT systems.
• Register newly installed underground devices and update network topology.
• Configure network devices used by underground OT systems.
• Monitor underground network devices and OT infrastructure performance.
• Monitor optic fibre infrastructure and ensure optimal service availability.
• Respond to physical and logical violations of OT infrastructure.
• Safeguard OT infrastructure against unauthorized physical and logical access.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree, Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Working at Height Certificate.
• Industrial Automation and Rigging Certification.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in network infrastructure installation in Operational Technology within large and complex environments.
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience in fibre optic technology installation, maintenance and administration.
• Mining industry experience is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of microwave and optical fibre transmission, SDH and PDH, network security, Cisco VoIP systems and managed Wi-Fi.

2. CLERK 2, ENVIRONMENT

JOB PURPOSE

To provide effective administrative, document-control, procurement and logistical support to the Environment Department while ensuring departmental records, transactions, correspondence, meetings, supplies and routine administrative processes are completed accurately and on time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain organised electronic and physical filing systems.
• Maintain departmental document registers, trackers and administrative records.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide technical leadership and governance across mine geology systems, processes and projects supporting open pit and underground mining, ensuring geological data, modelling and reconciliation workflows are accurate, reliable and aligned with operational and business requirements.

• Provide technical leadership for geological systems and processes supporting open pit and underground mine geology.

4. SUPERINTENDENT 2, PRODUCTION OPERATIONS

JOB PURPOSE

To manage plant production activities safely, efficiently, cost-effectively and in an environmentally responsible manner, while managing production crews and contractors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Track critical control verifications, leadership site walkabouts and frontline safety participation.

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure construction and service activities in the Underground Mining Department are carried out safely and effectively to achieve operational targets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all safety requirements, use the Take 5 tool and comply with underground operating procedures.
• Report hazards and incidents and support safe work practices.
• Carry out underground vent wall construction, including scaffolding, steel skeleton construction and timber works.
• Perform site housekeeping.
• Assemble and install primary ventilation fans.
• Prepare skeleton walls for shotcreting according to approved designs and layouts.
• Construct underground backfill barricade walls.
• Perform formwork, reinforcement installation, timber works and hot works.

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the CCTV control room is continuously manned and that CCTV surveillance, fleet tracking, radio and telephone communication, alarm management and electronic access control systems are properly operated to manage security and safety risks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct CCTV surveillance in line with control-room procedures.
• Monitor fleet tracking, alarms, access control, radio and telephone communications.
• Receive, record, coordinate and escalate security, safety and emergency incidents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

10. OPERATOR 3, LONGHOLE DRILL

Location: Geita, Geita, Tanzania
Department: Underground Mining
Employment Status: Full-Time

JOB PURPOSE

To carry out underground production drilling of precise blast holes into ore bodies, as well as service holes and cable-bolt holes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate longhole drilling equipment safely and productively according to OEM specifications.
• Meet or exceed daily production targets.
• Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling techniques accordingly.
• Manage drilling components to prevent drifter, shank, rotation and hole-related problems.
• Un-bog and remove rods using approved procedures.
• Consult the Supervisor and Planning Engineer where drilling problems cannot be resolved.
• Remove cuttings and sludge to keep drill holes clean.
• Accurately record metres drilled, re-drills, ground conditions, delays, hole variations, hazards and consumables.
• Protect equipment by operating within RPM limits and approved best practices.
• Perform operator maintenance.
• Work with minimal supervision and target approximately 125–200 metres per shift.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Completion of Secondary School Education, Advanced Level Education or Diploma in Mining or Mechanical Engineering.
• Valid Driving Licence is an added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years' underground mining experience, starting in development or as an underground operator before transitioning to a solo rig.
• Experience operating Sandvik DL421 or DL420 series.
• Ability to read geological markings and identify varying rock hardness.

• Ability to assess ground conditions and scale loose rock.
