EMPLOYMENT VACANCIES
The Catholic University of Mbeya (CUoM) is a fully-fledged private university owned by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), situated in Mbeya City. With its vision of being a quality-based University and by keeping its fast-growing pace, CUoM invites applications from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies at the University:

A. POSTS

  1. Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics (2 Posts)
    Holders of M.Sc. in Mathematics with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and B.Sc. in Mathematics with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or any other equivalent qualifications from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania.

  2. Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Law (7 Posts)
    Holders of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law AND/OR Holders of Master's Degree in Law (LLM) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania. Applicants with qualifications in the area of Corporate and/or Procedural Laws will be given first priority.

  3. Assistant Lecturer in Literature (1 Post)
    Holders of M.A in Literature with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor of Arts with Education (with Literature as specialisation) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania, or any other equivalent qualifications.

  4. Assistant Lecturer in Kiswahili-Isimu (1 Post)
    Holders of M.A in Kiswahili (Isimu) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor of Arts with Education (with Kiswahili as specialisation) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania, or any other equivalent qualifications.

  5. Assistant Lecturer in Kiswahili-Fasihi (2 Posts)
    Holders of M.A in Kiswahili (Fasihi) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor of Arts with Education (with Kiswahili as specialisation) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania, or any other equivalent qualifications.

  6. Assistant Lecturer in Linguistics (2 Posts)
    Holders of M.A in Linguistics with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor of Arts with Education (with Linguistics as specialisation) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania, or any other equivalent qualifications.

  7. Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Business Studies (4 Posts)
    Holders of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Studies AND/OR Holders of Master's Degree in Business Studies with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania. Areas emphasized include Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Human Resource Management and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

  8. Assistant Lecturer in History (1 Post)
    Holders of M.A in History with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor of Arts with Education (with History as specialisation) with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania, or any other equivalent qualifications.

  9. Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Accounting and/or Finance (4 Posts)
    Holders of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting and/or Finance AND/OR Holders of Master's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance with a minimum GPA of 4.0 or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania.

  10. Tutorial Assistant in Information and Communication Technology (1 Post)
    Holders of BSc in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.8 or any other equivalent qualifications from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania.

  11. Tutorial Assistant in Library Studies and Records Management with ICT (1 Post)
    Holders of B.A. in Library Studies with a minimum GPA of 3.8 or B.A. in Records Management with a minimum GPA of 3.8 from Higher Learning Institutions recognised in Tanzania. Applicants with additional qualifications in ICT will be given first priority.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lecturers: To teach and organise at least two courses per Semester; conduct seminars, tutorials and supervise students’ work; pursue research and publications; guide students; handle academic-related complaints; mentor junior staff; participate in curriculum development; attend committees, conferences and workshops; and perform other duties as assigned.

Assistant Lecturers: To give lectures, seminars, tutorials and supervise student work; set and mark examinations; counsel students; pursue research and publications; mentor Tutorial Assistants; attend institutional committees, conferences and workshops; and perform other duties as assigned.

Tutorial Assistants: To attend pedagogical training; teach Diploma and Certificate students; conduct seminars; set and mark examinations; assist senior staff; be available for consultation; handle student complaints with discretion; behave in a manner promoting the University’s reputation; and perform other duties as assigned.

C. REMUNERATION
An attractive salary will be paid to the successful applicants.

D. GENERAL CONDITIONS
i) Each applicant must attach a recent passport size photograph to his/her job application package.
ii) All applicants must be citizens of Tanzania.
iii) An applicant with special needs (disability) should indicate the respective disability.
iv) All copies must be certified by an authorized organ.
v) Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interview.
vi) Provisional Results, Statements of Results and Form IV and Form VI Results Slips will not be considered. Those who studied outside Tanzania must provide recognition of their foreign awards by NACTE or TCU.

E. MODE OF APPLICATION

  • Photocopies of relevant Academic Certificates and Transcripts.
  • Photocopy of Birth Certificate.
