New Vacancies at SUA



Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is seeking a Project Assistant for the Agri-food Systems and Entrepreneurship Development in rice and horticulture Value Chain(s) in Tanzania (AGRIFOSE-RIH) project. This is a full-time, two-year contract position, which may be renewed based on performance and resource availability. The duty station is the College of Agriculture/DUS at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will support the research team with administration and project implementation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out daily project activities, including communications, meetings, and monitoring progress against the project plan.
  • Conducting field research, such as data missions, data collection, and stakeholder workshops.
  • Preparing project reports for various stakeholders.
  • Providing support and ensuring tasks are executed in a timely manner under the direct supervision of the project team.
  • Performing administrative duties like managing records, sorting and filing documents, and sending project files to the correct personnel.
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a field such as Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Irrigation Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of and skills in computer operations.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili, along with strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
  • Experience in project management or as a field project assistant in the agricultural value chain is an added advantage.
  • Applicants should be between 18 and 35 years of age.
