JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The District Executive Director of Sumbawanga District Council invites Tanzanians with the required qualifications to apply for thirteen (13) vacant positions as listed below, following the approval of the 2024/2025 financial year Ref. No. FA.97/228/01/A/25 dated 29/04/2025 and the 2023/2024 financial year Ref. No. FA.97/228/01"/06 dated 06/04/2023 from the Permanent Secretary, President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance.

1. OFFICE SECRETARY II – 03 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Typing letters, reports, normal and confidential documents.
  • Receiving visitors, attending to their queries, and directing them to appropriate offices.
  • Keeping records of events, appointments, meeting dates, official trips, and schedules.
  • Retrieving files and necessary documents for official duties.
  • Receiving files and distributing them to responsible officers.
  • Collecting, storing, and returning files and documents.
  • Preparing minutes and making arrangements for meetings.
  • Preparing lists of office equipment needs.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the employer.

Qualifications
Holder of Form IV/VI with Diploma – NTA Level 6 in Secretarial Studies, with a pass in shorthand (Swahili & English) 100 words per minute, computer knowledge in office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, Publisher) from a recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TGS C – 1.

2. DRIVER II – 08 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspecting vehicles before and after trips to ensure safety.
  • Driving staff to different destinations for official duties.
  • Performing minor vehicle repairs.
  • Recording all trips in the logbook.
  • Collecting, delivering, and transporting various documents/items.
  • Cleaning the vehicle.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the employer.

Qualifications
Holder of Form IV/VI with a driving license Class ‘C’ or ‘E’, attended Basic Driving Course from VETA or any recognized institution, with at least one year of accident-free driving experience.

Salary Scale: TGS B – 1.

3. RECORDS ASSISTANT II – 02 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Registering incoming correspondence.
  • Registering outgoing correspondence.
  • Distributing files to Action Officers.
  • Receiving returned files from Action Officers.
  • Retrieving documents/files required by officers.
  • Returning files to cabinets or designated storage.
  • Tracking circulation of files within the institution.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the employer.

Qualifications
Holder of Form IV/VI with Diploma – NTA Level 6 in Records Management/Archives from a recognized institution, with computer knowledge.

Salary Scale: TGS C – 1.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  1. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged 18–45 years, except current Government employees who may exceed 45 years.
  2. Attach a birth certificate.
  3. Attach a detailed CV with reliable contacts and three referees.
  4. Attach certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts.
  5. Result slips, provisional results, and testimonials will not be accepted.
  6. Applicants who studied abroad must have their certificates verified by NECTA, NACTVET, or TCU.
  7. Forged certificates will lead to legal action.
  8. Applications must be handwritten in Swahili or English.
  9. Driver applicants must attach valid driving certificates qualifying them for Class C/E licenses.
  10. Applicants with discrepancies in names/initials on NIDA, academic certificates, and birth certificates must attach an affidavit.
  11. Applicants with different names on documents must attach a deed poll.
  12. Retired public servants are not allowed unless with special approval from the Chief Secretary.
  13. Current employees in entry-level positions in public service should not apply.
  14. Deadline for submission is 01/10/2025.
