ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEMPORARY JOB VACANCIES FOR POLLING STATION OFFICIALS FOR THE 2025 GENERAL ELECTIONS IN TANZANIA AND ZANZIBAR

For the purpose of conducting the general elections and in accordance with the provisions of Section 6(6) of the Election of the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors Act No. 1 of 2024, read together with Regulation 10(1) of the Election of the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors Regulations of 2025, the Director of Elections invites applications from qualified and capable Tanzanian citizens to fill the following positions: -

  1. Polling Station Supervisors.
  2. Assistant Polling Station Supervisors.
  3. Voter Guidance Clerks.

A. QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS FOR POLLING STATION SUPERVISORS OR ASSISTANT SUPERVISORS

i) Must be a Tanzanian citizen;
ii) Must be at least 18 years old;
iii) Must not be a leader of a political party;
iv) Must be honest, loyal, and of sound mind;
v) Must have completed at least Form Four (4) education and be able to read and write in Swahili or English. Additionally, must be able to read and understand the Polling Station Supervisors' Guidebook; and
vi) Must be a resident of the Ward or District where they are applying to work.

B. QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS FOR VOTER GUIDANCE CLERKS

i) Must be a Tanzanian citizen;
ii) Must be at least 18 years old;
iii) Must not be a leader of a political party;
iv) Must be honest, loyal, and of sound mind;
v) Must have completed at least Form Four (4) education and be able to read and write in Swahili or English. Additionally, must be able to read and understand the Voter Guidance Clerks' Guidebook; and
vi) Must be a resident of the Ward or District where they are applying to work.

C. GENERAL CONDITIONS

i) The applicant must specify the position they are applying for along with the Ward where they wish to work.
ii) The applicant must be willing to work at any polling station they are assigned to.
iii) The applicant must attach:
a) Copies of Secondary Education Certificates and Professional Certificates, if any.
b) A Curriculum Vitae (CV) showing their residential address, reliable phone numbers, and the names of two guarantors along with their NIDA or Zanzibar Resident ID numbers.
c) Two recent passport-sized photographs.
d) An identification letter from the Ward in their residential area.

iv) Applicants who are public servants must submit their application letters through their employers.

D. HOW TO SUBMIT APPLICATION LETTERS

  1. ALL APPLICATION LETTERS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS FOLLOWS:
    Director of Elections,
    National Electoral Commission,
    Zanzibar Office,
    Maisara Street,
    P.O. Box 4670,
    ZANZIBAR.

IMPORTANT: All applications must be submitted to the offices of the District Election Supervisors in Unguja and Pemba. Applications submitted outside this procedure will not be processed.

  1. ALL APPLICATION LETTERS SHOULD BE WRITTEN ON THE ENVELOPE, INDICATING THE POSITION APPLIED FOR, THE DISTRICT OR CONSTITUENCY WHERE THE APPLICANT WISHES TO WORK, AND MUST INCLUDE COPIES OF EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATES ALONG WITH PERSONAL DETAILS (CV).

APPLICANTS FOUND TO HAVE SUBMITTED FALSE INFORMATION WILL FACE LEGAL ACTION.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS IS 16TH AUGUST, 2025 AT 3:30 PM.
