1.0 INTRODUCTION
Dar es Salaam Tanzania University (DnrTU) is undergoing strategic re-engineering and rebranding to stay abreast of emerging developments in media, communication, linguistics, and the digital information age. As part of this transformation, DnrTU aims to strengthen its academic and technological capacity to address emerging trends that are critical to shaping the future of Journalism, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Digital Knowledge, and Information Management in Tanzania and beyond. In pursuit of this goal, DnrTU seeks to recruit qualified, dynamic, and proactive candidates for the following positions:
(i) Lecturer in Linguistics (1 Post)
(ii) Assistant Lecturer in Linguistics (1 Post)
(iii) Lecturer in Journalism and Mass Communication (1 Post)
(iv) Assistant Lecturer in Journalism and Mass Communication (1 Post)
(v) Assistant Lecturer in Library and Information Studies (2 Posts)
(vi) Computer Laboratory Scientist/Engineer III (1 Post)
2.0 POSITION DESCRIPTION, QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lecturer in Linguistics (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Possession of a PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or closely related fields from accredited institutions.
- GPA of at least 4.0 in Master’s and 3.5 in Bachelor’s.
- Demonstrated competencies in key linguistic fields.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.
- Conduct and publish research.
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship.
- Engage in professional development.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Assistant Lecturer in Linguistics (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or Language Studies.
- GPA of at least 4.0 in Master’s and 3.5 in Bachelor’s.
- Strong command of English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in teaching and invigilation.
- Participate in research and academic activities.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Lecturer in Journalism and Mass Communication (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related fields.
- GPA of at least 4.0 in Master’s and 3.5 in Bachelor’s.
- Expertise in teaching, research, and publications.
- Strong command of English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses and practical sessions.
- Lead course development and revision.
- Conduct research and publish.
- Mentor students.
- Participate in professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues.
- Perform other duties.
- Assistant Lecturer in Journalism and Mass Communication (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Mass Communication.
- GPA of at least 4.0 in Master’s and 3.5 in Bachelor’s.
- Strong command of English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in teaching and invigilation.
- Participate in research and academic activities.
- Perform other duties.
- Assistant Lecturer in Library and Information Studies (2 Posts)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Studies or related fields.
- GPA of at least 4.0 in Master’s and 3.5 in Bachelor’s.
- Strong command of English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in teaching and invigilation.
- Participate in departmental research and activities.
- Perform other duties.
- Computer Laboratory Scientist/Engineer III (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related fields.
- GPA of at least 3.5.
- Strong command of English.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and systems.
- Provide technical support to staff and students.
- Ensure security and functionality of lab infrastructure.
- Perform other duties.
3.0 REMUNERATION
An attractive remuneration package will be offered to successful candidates based on qualifications and experience.
