HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE AJIRA PORTAL INTERVIEW AND SUCCEED

Before preparing for the interview, ensure you have completed the following requirements that will allow you to participate in the interview:

  1. Make sure all your certificates are original and not photocopies. Even if a photocopy has a lawyer’s stamp, it will not be accepted for the interview.
  2. Ensure you have an Affidavit or Deed Poll if the names on your certificates differ. You cannot attend the interview if your certificate names do not match.

IF THERE IS ANY LETTER DIFFERENCE between your Birth Certificate, NIDA, or Academic Certificates, you must obtain an Affidavit.
Affidavits are obtained from a lawyer or the court to verify your correct names.

Example of name differences:

  • CHEMBE JOHN THOMAS (on birth certificate)
  • CHEMBE JON THOMAS (on academic certificate)
  • The name “JOHN” written as “JON” requires an Affidavit.

IF YOUR ACADEMIC CERTIFICATE CONTAINS A NAME THAT DOES NOT APPEAR ON YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE, you must obtain a Deed Poll.
Deed Polls are obtained from the Ministry of Lands to verify official names.

Example of name differences:

  • AHMED S. MOHAMED (on academic certificate)
  • AHMED MOHAMED (on birth certificate)
  • The letter “S.” must be verified through a Deed Poll.

REMEMBER:
You cannot attend the interview if your certificate names do not match. Ensure all names correspond before the interview date.

  1. Make sure you have all required certificates according to your job application, such as college certificate and transcript, Form 4 and Form 6 certificates (if applicable), birth certificate, and license or registration certificate.
  2. Ensure you have a National ID, not just the number.

HOW TO STUDY OR PREPARE FOR THE AJIRA PORTAL INTERVIEW

The Ajira Portal interview is divided into three categories:

  1. Screening Interview
  2. Practical Interview (rare and for specific cadres)
  3. Oral Interview

SCREENING INTERVIEW
This is the most challenging stage because everyone who meets the basic qualifications is invited. The aim is not just to pass but to be among the top performers. Even if many candidates score above 90%, only the highest scorers are selected.

HOW SCREENING INTERVIEWS ARE CONDUCTED
For mass recruitment, the questions are usually multiple choice, between 45 and 50 questions.
Screening can be done through Online Amplitude Test or Handwriting. Normally, Degree holders and above take the Online Amplitude Test, while Diploma and below take Handwriting, depending on the year.

Regardless of the method, the question types remain the same.

HOW TO STUDY FOR THE SCREENING INTERVIEW

  1. Use the job advertisement posted by the Secretariat. Review the Duties and Responsibilities for your position and use them to guide your studies through notes, the internet, or AI support.
  2. Study all notes or materials by skimming. Ensure you go through everything briefly. Do not dig too deeply because questions can come from anywhere.
  3. If you applied to a particular institution, study what the institution does.
  4. Join discussion groups to learn from others who have done interviews.
  5. Study as much as you can but within your ability. Do your best and pray.

PRACTICAL INTERVIEW
This applies only to certain cadres such as Laboratory staff or Drivers, though it is uncommon in mass recruitment.
To succeed, research the company or institution. For example, laboratory staff should study equipment and tests conducted before the interview.

ORAL INTERVIEW
Reaching this stage means you must congratulate yourself.

Important points:

  • You need a minimum score of 50% to pass.
  • If you pass, your name remains in the database for one year.
  • This is a face-to-face interview.
  • Only a small number are selected for this stage. For every one position, three people are interviewed.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR AND PASS THE ORAL INTERVIEW

  1. Study the job description and all duties and responsibilities. These are the source of 90% of oral interview questions.
  2. Prepare for the question: “Tell me/us about yourself.” This question is always asked in English for every candidate.
  3. Study additional topics related to your field.

NOTE:
Passing the oral interview is not based solely on academic performance. Sometimes someone who did not answer perfectly may still be selected.

Focus on two things:

  1. The “Tell me about yourself” question
  2. Duties and Responsibilities in the job advertisement

If you master both, you are ready for the oral interview.

OTHER IMPORTANT BUT MINOR THINGS
Since oral interviews are face-to-face, your appearance and interaction matter. Remember the interviewer is human, with emotions. Do the following:

  1. Dress professionally according to public service standards.
  2. Do not sit unless invited to do so.
  3. Answer clearly and audibly.
  4. Be cheerful and confident.
  5. Explain yourself well, because sometimes human compassion may help you.

If you are older, try your best to reach the oral interview stage because human compassion may apply there.
