JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Executive Director (W) of Kilindi District Council invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill six (06) vacant posts in this Council following approval from the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance as detailed below:

1.1 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY GRADE II – 1 POST

1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Typing letters, reports, and both general and confidential documents;
ii. Receiving visitors, listening to their problems, and explaining where they can be assisted;
iii. Keeping records of events, deadlines, meeting dates, the supervisor’s travels, and other work schedules;
iv. Searching for required files and documents in the execution of work duties;
v. Receiving and distributing files to officers in the relevant Department/Unit/Section;
vi. Collecting, keeping, and returning files and documents to the relevant sections;
vii. Arranging extracts and making preparations for various meetings;
viii. Preparing a list of office equipment requirements.

1.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
An applicant must have Form IV or Form VI education and possess a Certificate/Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA Level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies. In addition, the applicant must have passed Kiswahili and English Shorthand at a speed of 100 words per minute and must have passed office computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, and Publisher from a government-recognized institution.

1.1.3 SALARY SCALE

1.2 DRIVER GRADE II – 5 POSTS

1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to determine its safety condition;
ii. Transporting staff to various places on official trips;
iii. Performing minor vehicle repairs;
iv. Maintaining and recording all trips in the log book;
v. Collecting and distributing various documents;
vi. Cleaning the vehicle;
vii. Performing other duties as directed by the Supervisor.

1.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
An applicant must have a Form IV certificate and a Class E or C driving license with at least one year of driving experience without causing an accident. The applicant must also possess training certificates that qualified them to obtain the respective license classes and must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA College or any other government-recognized institution.

1.3 GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS

i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and not above 45 years;
ii. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and must indicate their disability in the Job Application System for information to the Public Service Employment Secretariat;
iii. Applicants for Driver Grade II posts with Class E or C licenses must attach training certificates that qualified them to obtain the respective license classes;
iv. All applicants must attach a detailed personal Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a functional address, reachable telephone numbers, an email address, and names of three reliable referees;
v. Applicants who are already employed on a temporary basis within the Public Service should not apply and must observe the guidelines stipulated in Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November, 2010;
vi. All applications must be accompanied by certified copies of academic and professional certificates certified by an Advocate/Lawyer, including Form IV or Form VI certificates and certificates for various trainings relevant to the applied post;
vii. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results, and Form IV or Form VI result slips will not be accepted;
viii. Applicants who studied outside the country must ensure their certificates are verified and approved by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE);
ix. Applicants who retired from the Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary;
x. Submission of false information or qualifications will result in legal action being taken against the applicant;
xi. The deadline for submitting job applications is 19 January, 2026;
