JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Director of Songea Municipal Council announces to qualified Tanzanians three (03) job vacancies in this Council after obtaining permission from the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance, as detailed below:
1.0 DRIVER GRADE II – THREE (03) POSTS
1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To inspect the vehicle before and after trips in order to determine its safety condition.
ii. To transport staff to various destinations on official trips.
iii. To perform minor vehicle repairs.
iv. To collect and distribute various documents.
v. To fill out and maintain records of all trips in the trip logbook.
vi. To clean the vehicle.
vii. To perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
1.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant must possess a Form IV Certificate (O-Level) and a valid Class E or C driving license. The applicant must have worked for a period of not less than one (1) year without causing an accident and must possess training certificates that qualified him/her to obtain the respective driving license classes. In addition, the applicant must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA College or any other Government-recognized institution.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged not more than 45 years.
ii. Applicants must attach a Birth Certificate.
iii. Applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (C.V) with reliable contact addresses, telephone numbers, and names of reliable referees.
iv. Applicants must attach copies of Academic Certificates, including Form IV and Form VI Certificates (for those who reached that level), and certificates for various training courses relevant to the job qualifications through the Ajira Portal.
v. Testimonials, “Provisional Results”, “Statement of Results”, Form IV and Form VI Result Slips ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
vi. Applicants for the Driver Grade II position with a Class E or C driving license MUST ATTACH training certificates that qualified them to obtain the respective license classes.
vii. All applicants must attach two recent passport-size photographs on the Ajira Portal.
viii. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified and approved by the relevant authorities such as TCU, NECTA, and NACTE.
ix. Applicants who have retired from the Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary.
x. Applicants who are currently employed in temporary positions within the Public Service should not apply and must observe the guidelines outlined in Circular Ref. No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November, 2010.
xi. Submission of forged information or certificates will result in legal action against the applicant.
xii. The deadline for submitting applications is 19th January, 2026.
