JOB VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

The Secretary of the Public Service Employment Secretariat, on behalf of MDAs & LGAs, invites job applications from Tanzanians with the required qualifications and abilities to fill 1,086 positions as specified in this announcement:

1.0 MEDICAL OFFICER GRADE II – 492 Positions

1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Perform all hospital medical duties related to various diseases, including paediatrics, maternal, general, and emergency surgery.
ii. Provide and supervise health education and improve community health in their Districts, Regions, or work area.
iii. Investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
iv. Maintain statistics and use them according to MTUHA guidelines.
v. Plan and evaluate health services in their work area.
vi. Teach students and staff in the work area.
vii. Supervise and direct subordinates.
viii. Design and conduct research and disseminate results.
ix. Prepare strategies for improving service quality in their field.
x. Prepare health service plans and budget estimates.

1.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a Medical Doctor degree from a government-recognized university/college, have completed an internship, and be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.

1.3 SALARY SCALE

2.0 BIOMEDICAL ENGINEER II – 31 Positions

2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Maintain medical equipment at the district level (electronic equipment).
ii. Keep records of technical work and maintenance.
iii. Perform preventive maintenance of medical equipment.
iv. Order spare parts for medical equipment.
v. Prepare budgets for medical equipment maintenance.
vi. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor related to education, experience, and expertise.

2.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Medical Equipment) from a government-recognized college and registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania.

2.3 SALARY SCALE

3.0 PHYSIOTHERAPIST II – 39 Positions

3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Provide treatment through therapeutic exercises.
ii. Collect and maintain patient statistics and information.
iii. Maintain department equipment.
iv. Educate the community on symptom identification and disability prevention.
v. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

3.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Physiotherapy from a government-recognized college and fully registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.

3.3 SALARY SCALE

4.0 ASSISTANT ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER GRADE II – 172 Positions

4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Control and prevent disease outbreaks.
ii. Combat and control insects and animals spreading diseases.
iii. Supervise burial of unidentified or infectious disease-related bodies.
iv. Prepare environmental health reports at ward level.
v. Collect and analyze environmental health statistics and provide feedback.
vi. Provide environmental health education to the community.
vii. Inspect food processing environments to ensure community safety.
viii. Enforce environmental health laws and assist in developing by-laws.
ix. Mobilize communities to improve water sources and sanitation.
x. Mobilize communities for Primary Health Care Services implementation.
xi. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

4.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Environmental Health Science from a government-recognized college and registered with the Environmental Health Practitioners Board.

4.3 SALARY SCALE

5.0 MEDICAL SPECIALIST – GYNAECOLOGIST II – 17 Positions

5.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Perform hospital medical duties in their specialty.
ii. Teach health college students in their work area.
iii. Investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
iv. Prepare continuing education for health workers.
v. Train and supervise subordinates.
vi. Conduct and evaluate research.
vii. Design strategies to improve service quality.
viii. Provide outreach services in the zone.
ix. Provide medical-legal services.
x. Participate in policy and plan implementation.
xi. Advise the ministry on health operations.
xii. Participate in medical board panels for retirements due to medical reasons.
xiii. Prepare curricula for continuing education.
xiv. Prepare health service plans and budget estimates.

5.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Medical Specialist or PhD in Gynaecology from government-recognized universities, registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.

6.0 NURSING OFFICER II – 50 Positions

6.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Perform nursing duties in hospitals, community, and other health service locations.
ii. Collect health statistics.
iii. Supervise nurses under them.
iv. Provide home-based care.
v. Provide counselling.
vi. Prepare work plans for nursing services.
vii. Provide reproductive and child health services.
viii. Educate patients and the community.
ix. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

6.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a government-recognized university, completed one-year internship, and registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.

6.3 SALARY SCALE

7.0 ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER II – 100 Positions

7.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Provide nursing services.
ii. Collect health statistics.
iii. Supervise nurses under them.
iv. Educate patients and community.
v. Provide preventive and reproductive health services.
vi. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

7.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Nursing of at least two years from a government-recognized college, registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.

7.3 SALARY SCALE

8.0 CLINICAL ASSISTANT II – 90 Positions

8.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Provide preventive and curative services.
ii. Diagnose and treat diseases.
iii. Provide Primary Health Care services.
iv. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

8.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Form IV Certificate and two years of Clinical Assistant training (Clinical Assistants Certificate).

8.3 SALARY SCALE

9.0 DENTAL THERAPIST GRADE II – 30 Positions

9.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Perform duties of a Clinical Assistant.
ii. Identify and treat common diseases.
iii. Supervise subordinates and perform minor surgery.
iv. Participate in Primary Health Care implementation.
v. Mobilize communities for Community Health Fund services.
vi. Maintain equipment and tools records.
vii. Prepare and submit implementation reports.
viii. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

9.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Clinical Dentistry from a government-recognized college, registered with the Medical Council.

9.3 SALARY SCALE

10.0 DENTAL SURGEON GRADE II – 65 Positions

10.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Perform hospital medical duties related to oral and dental diseases.
ii. Provide and supervise oral and dental health education.
iii. Improve oral and dental health in the community.
iv. Perform restorative dental work including surgery, prosthodontics, and orthodontics.
v. Supervise subordinates.
vi. Investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
vii. Teach health college students in their work area.
viii. Conduct research and disseminate results.
ix. Design strategies to improve service quality.
x. Prepare oral and dental health service plans and budgets.
xi. Participate in reviewing and improving health services.
xii. Provide outreach services in districts/regions.
xiii. Maintain statistics according to MTUHA guidelines.
xiv. Plan and evaluate oral and dental health services.
xv. Conduct research in oral and dental health.
xvi. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

10.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Dental Surgery from government-recognized colleges, completed internship, registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.

10.3 SALARY SCALE

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens and not exceed 45 years of age. For Military Institution positions:
    · Non-degree positions: max 25 years
    · Degree positions: max 30 years

  3. Attach a birth certificate certified by an Attorney/Advocate.

  4. Public Service employees SHOULD NOT APPLY and must follow circular number CAC45/257/01/D/140 dated 30 November 2010.

  6. Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statement of Results, Form IV and VI results slips are NOT ACCEPTABLE.

  7. Applicants who studied abroad must have certificates verified by TCU, NECTA, or NACTVET; attach GPA conversion certificate if required.

  8. Retired Public Service employees cannot apply.

  9. Submission of false information will result in legal action.
