ANNOUNCEMENT OF VOLUNTEER YOUTH POSITIONS
The Medical Officer in Charge of the Tanga Regional Referral Hospital wishes to announce to all Tanzanians with qualifications and ability to fill volunteer youth positions as follows:
- MEDICAL OFFICER II – 6 POSITIONS
Professional Qualifications for the Applicant
• Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine from government-recognized universities, having completed internship and obtained registration from the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
Responsibilities
i. To perform all medical duties in the hospital related to various diseases including pediatric diseases, maternal diseases, and routine and emergency surgery.
ii. To provide and supervise health education and improve community health in the District, Region, or their work area.
iii. To investigate, monitor, and prevent disease outbreaks.
iv. To maintain statistics and use them as directed within the MTUHA framework.
v. To plan and evaluate health services in their work area.
vi. To teach students and staff present in the work area.
vii. To supervise and direct staff under them.
viii. To teach students in health colleges located in their work area.
ix. To design and conduct research and disseminate results.
x. To design and prepare strategies for improving the quality of service in their field.
xi. To prepare plans and budget estimates for health services.
xii. To participate in, review, and improve health services (medical audit and quality improvement).
xiii. To provide outreach services in their district/region.
xiv. To perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor related to their education, experience, and skills.
- ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER II (ANAESTHESIA) – 3 POSITIONS
Professional Qualifications for the Applicant
• Diploma in Nursing from a government-recognized college, registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council, who has attended one year of training in safe sedation and anaesthesia (Anaesthesia).
Responsibilities
i. To provide safe sedation and anaesthesia services.
ii. To collect essential health statistics.
iii. To direct nurses under their supervision.
iv. To educate patients and the community about their health problems.
v. To provide preventive and reproductive health services.
vi. To perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor related to their education, experience, and skills.
- ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER II – 10 POSITIONS
Professional Qualifications for the Applicant
• Diploma in Nursing from a government-recognized college, registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Responsibilities
i. To provide nursing care.
ii. To collect essential health statistics.
iii. To direct nurses under their supervision.
iv. To educate patients and the community about their health problems.
v. To provide preventive and reproductive health services.
vi. To perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor related to their education, experience, and skills.
- LAUNDRY ATTENDANT / LAUNDRY TECHNICIAN – 1 POSITION
Professional Qualifications for the Applicant
• Form Four graduate who has received two or three years of training in the field of Laundry Services from government-recognized colleges.
Responsibilities
i. To sort clothes for washing, drying, ironing, and folding.
ii. To report to the Supervisor if clothes are burnt or torn for prompt action.
iii. To maintain all equipment related to laundry work.
GENERAL COMPENSATION
• Payment of transport and food allowances will be made in accordance with the guidelines for volunteering in the public service of the year 2025.
GENERAL TERMS FOR APPLICANTS
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen aged between 18 and 35 years.
- Must be a graduate with a certificate, diploma, or degree from a government-recognized college.
- Must be the legitimate owner of academic certificates.
- Must have two guarantors who are public servants.
- Must have an identification letter from the Village/Neighborhood/Local Government Executive Officer.
- Must be willing to volunteer in the respective area.
- Must not have been convicted by a court for criminal or disciplinary offenses.
- Must have good conduct and behavior acceptable to the community.
- Must not have been employed in any public institution since graduating.
- Must attach to the application certified copies of certificates (verified by a government attorney/advocate), a national ID/identification number and/or two colored passport-sized photos.
- Each applicant must correctly write their address and a constantly available phone number for communication purposes.
- The deadline for receiving applications is 19th February, 2026.
