Vacancy: Health Volunteer – Assistant Nursing Officer (23 Posts)

Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive Maternal and Newborn Healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

To strengthen our nursing department, CCBRT is looking for dynamic and experienced Assistant Nursing Officers (Health Volunteers) to provide clinical nursing care at CCBRT in their respective allocated areas (OPD, IPD, OR, or OTD).

The Role
As an Assistant Nursing Officer, you will be expected to provide nursing care in accordance with quality and safety regulations and standards, while maintaining patients’ dignity at all times. You will ensure all necessary preparations are completed before patients see the doctor or proceed to consulting rooms or theatre. The role includes assisting doctors during patient examinations and/or surgeries, translating information between Kiswahili and English where language barriers exist, communicating sensitive medical information, counselling patients, performing clinical procedures, ensuring proper record keeping, and controlling patient flow within the clinical area.

The Candidate

  • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
  • Must be registered and hold a valid licence from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Good communication skills in English and Swahili
  • Flexible, multitasking, proactive, and eager to learn

The Role
As a Medical Attendant, you will ensure all working tools are available and in good condition, direct patients and relatives appropriately, and assist in preparing patients before they see the doctor or proceed to consulting rooms or theatre. You will communicate effectively with doctors and other staff to ensure efficient workflow, assist in controlling patient flow, transport patients, equipment, and supplies between units, verify specimens, and transport them to the laboratory. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean, quiet, calm, and comfortable environment for patients and conducting scheduled weekly and monthly cleaning activities.

The Candidate

  • Form IV certificate plus one-year basic nursing training from a government-recognized institution
  • Minimum of one year working experience
  • Computer literate
  • Good communication skills in English and Swahili
  • Flexible, multitasking, proactive, and eager to learn
