EM Hospital is a regional referral hospital with registration number 122528 located at Mjimwema Kibaoni Plot Number 506, Kigamboni District. EM Hospital is owned by Medicorps Healthcare Limited (MHCL), an existing establishment incorporated in 2018.
As Tanzania's growing population becomes better educated and more affluent, people are becoming more aware of and are in demand of esteemed social services including better medical care. The goal of EM Hospital is to provide high quality general and specialized medical care of reasonable and affordable cost using advanced techniques, equipment, and materials.
We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel for the following full-time positions:
- MEDICAL DOCTOR (2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose and treat illnesses, develop and manage treatment plans, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting tests, and prescribing medications.
Provide preventive care such as health screening, vaccinations, and lifestyle counseling.
Perform medical procedures within the scope of practice such as suturing, minor or major surgery, or specialized interventions.
Maintain accurate medical records and comply with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
Attend to in-patients and out-patients, conducting regular rounds to monitor patient progress.
Participate in emergency medical duties and provide basic life support when required.
Supervise and provide technical advice to junior medical staff and interns.
Prepare periodic reports regarding patient care and departmental activities.
Requirements:
Medical Doctor degree (MD/MBBS/MBChB) from a recognized university.
A valid practising licence from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
At least 2 years of professional working experience.
- THEATRE NURSE (3 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures and examinations.
Assist surgeons during operations by handling instruments, managing sterile fields, and ensuring all surgical supplies are available.
Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in theatre areas.
Ensure proper handling of surgical instruments and adherence to aseptic techniques.
Monitor patients' vital signs during the peri-operative period and report abnormalities.
Assist in emergencies and provide basic life support when required.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided during surgical procedures.
Ensure proper care and maintenance of surgical equipment and report any malfunctions.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
A valid practising licence from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
At least 2 years of professional working experience in a theatre setting.
- ANAESTHESIA NURSE (2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist anaesthesiologists in the administration of spinal and general anesthesia.
Prepare patients for anaesthesia, including pre-operative assessment and monitoring.
Monitor patients' vital signs and level of consciousness during surgical procedures.
Manage patients' airways and assist with intubation and extubation procedures.
Handle and maintain anaesthesia equipment, ensuring proper functioning before each procedure.
Administer fluids and medications as directed by the anaesthesiologist.
Maintain accurate records of anaesthesia administration and patient responses.
Assist in post-operative care and pain management in recovery areas.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Nursing with specialization in Anaesthesia from a recognized institution.
A valid practising licence from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
At least 2 years of professional working experience in anaesthesia nursing.
- ICU NURSE (2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
Perform comprehensive initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care.
Monitor and record vital signs, fluid balance, and neurological status continuously.
Operate and monitor specialized ICU equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in ICU areas.
Communicate with patients' families regarding patient status and care plans.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of all nursing care provided.
Participate in emergency resuscitation efforts and code blue responses.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
A valid practising licence from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
At least 2 years of professional working experience in an ICU setting.
ADDITIONAL VACANCIES
PEDIATRICIAN (2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns, children, and adolescents to check and record their health and normal physical development.
Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions affecting children, including asthma, allergies, infections, and developmental disorders.
Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities.
Attend to emergency paediatric cases and provide specialized care.
Prepare and administer vaccines according to the governmental vaccination plan.
Advise parents on children's diet, exercise, and disease preventive measures.
Supervise medical students and interns in clinical duties related to paediatrics.
Participate fully in morning clinical sessions, patient presentations, and journal clubs.
Keep abreast of advancements in paediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences.
Requirements:
Medical Doctor degree (MD/MBBS/MBChB) plus Master of Medicine (MMed) in Paediatric and Child Health from a recognized university.
A valid practising licence from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
At least 2 years of professional experience as a Medical Doctor with specialization in paediatrics.
GENERAL SURGEON (2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform different kinds of surgeries including procedures involving the stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gall bladder, and bile duct.
Conduct surgeries on the esophagus and manage patients with surgical conditions.
Perform surgeries on children born with congenital defects such as imperforate anus.
Conduct surgeries for conditions like hydrocephalus and other surgical interventions.
Attend to in-patients and out-patients requiring surgical consultation and follow-up.
Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop surgical treatment plans.
Supervise and provide technical guidance to junior medical staff and interns in surgical departments.
Participate in emergency surgical duties and on-call rotations.
Conduct specialized investigations of admitted surgical patients.
Participate fully in major ward rounds, morning clinical sessions, and patient presentations.
Requirements:
Medical Doctor degree (MD/MBBS/MBChB) plus Master of Medicine (MMed) in Surgery from a recognized university.
A valid practising licence from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
At least 2 years of professional experience as a Medical Doctor with specialization in surgery.
OPHTHALMOLOGIST (2 POSTS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform advanced eye surgeries including cataract, glaucoma, and other ophthalmic procedures.
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose conditions, and provide effective treatments.
Ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety in all clinical practices.
Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, ophthalmic nurses, and support staff.
Conduct outreach programs including mobile eye clinics and health education campaigns.
Offer workshops and seminars to local healthcare providers to improve community-based eye care services.
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with professional standards.
Participate in specialized investigations of admitted patients with eye conditions.
Conduct on-the-job training for junior staff in ophthalmology.
Perform any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements:
Medical Doctor degree (MD/MBBS/MBChB) plus Master of Medicine (MMed) in Ophthalmology from a recognized university.
A valid practising licence from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
At least 2 years of professional experience as a Medical Doctor with specialization in ophthalmology.
