Main Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to assist in the efficient coordination of flights, ensuring safety and compliance with aviation regulations during service delivery in line with Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations and Company Policy. This includes supporting flight planning, maintaining communication with aircraft commanders, monitoring flight operations, and providing administrative support to the Operations Department.

Job Description
The Operations Intern will assist the flight operations team in coordinating and executing daily flight activities in line with client expectations and aviation requirements. The role involves contributing to flight planning and dispatch processes under supervision in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring timely completion and submission of flight plans, and facilitating clearance processes through delivery of manifests to immigration offices. The intern will maintain accurate records including flight and event logs, aircrew flying records, and flight operations documentation for both inbound and outbound flights. Additional responsibilities include establishing and managing air-to-ground and point-to-point radio communication with aircraft commanders, assisting with data entry of flight information into the company database, post-flight filing of operational documents, providing administrative support to the Operations Department such as organizing and replenishing stationery, and performing any other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Duty Officer.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Applicants must hold a Diploma in Flight Operations or Dispatch, possess knowledge of radio communication, and demonstrate proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet use.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
The ideal candidate should have the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, show willingness and ability to learn, manage time effectively, and remain dependable and flexible in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivation, confidence, and strong attention to detail are essential.

Work Environment
AMREF Flying Doctors operates in a twenty-four-hour work environment due to the nature of its operations.
