RE: VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS

The Managing Director of Chato Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (CHAWASSA) invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens to fill the following contract positions for a period of one year.

1. PLUMBING TECHNICIAN GRADE II (PIPE FITTER) – 08 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Attend to and report all water leakages.
  2. Follow up reported pipe bursts and carry out the necessary repairs.
  3. Prepare a list of equipment required for new connections.
  4. Participate in connecting water services to new customers according to established standards and procedures.
  5. Attend to and report water losses and distribution system faults and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  6. Prepare data for periodic reports to supervisors.
  7. Attend to and report defects and leakages in the water distribution system through customer service lines.
  8. Prepare individual performance targets and standards in consultation with supervisors as part of performance agreements.
  9. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess Form IV or Form VI education and a Level II Certificate in Plumbing from a government-recognized institution, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to the Authority’s regulations.


2. PLUMBING TECHNICIAN GRADE II (METER READER) – 05 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Read water meters.
  2. Distribute water bills.
  3. Collect water bills and customer debts.
  4. Disconnect and reconnect water services to customers.
  5. Inspect water meters.
  6. Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess Form IV or Form VI education and a Level II Certificate in Plumbing from a government-recognized institution, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to the Authority’s regulations.

3. ASSISTANT RECORDS MANAGEMENT OFFICER GRADE II – 01 POST

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Register incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  2. Receive and distribute files to staff.
  3. Return files to shelves or filing cabinets.
  4. Track and record movement of files within the institution.
  5. Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess Form IV or Form VI education and a Certificate (NTA Level 6) in Records Management from a government-recognized institution. Applicants must also have computer skills and at least one year of relevant work experience.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to the Authority’s regulations.

4. SECRETARY GRADE II – 01 POST

Qualifications

Applicants must possess Form IV or Form VI education and a Certificate in Secretarial Studies from a recognized institution. They must have passed typing and shorthand examinations in both Kiswahili and English at a speed of 100 words per minute. Applicants must also possess computer skills and certificates in Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, Email, and Publisher from a recognized government institution, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Type letters, reports, and other official documents.
  2. Receive and direct visitors to the appropriate officers.
  3. Maintain cleanliness and proper office arrangement.
  4. Keep and maintain records of events, appointments, duties, and other important information.
  5. Receive and handle telephone calls, faxes, and communications and relay information to relevant officers.
  6. Maintain office filing systems and distribute files to relevant officers for implementation and proper registry management.
  7. Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor.

5. ASSISTANT GIS OFFICER GRADE II – 01 POST

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in collecting GIS data using GPS, electronic data collection devices, digitizers, and other methods.
  2. Organize and manage GIS data and metadata.
  3. Enter, update, and maintain GIS databases, including backups and data integration.
  4. Participate in preparation of maps and analysis of maps and information related to water infrastructure owned by CHAWASSA.
  5. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of CHAWASSA GIS systems.
  6. Collect information on water networks and water sources under CHAWASSA.
  7. Collect infrastructure data from WSSA and convert maps into GIS datasets.
  8. Prepare maps and conduct analysis of maps and information related to water infrastructure owned by CHAWASSA.
  9. Process, compile, and distribute geographical information to facilitate GIS data migration between systems.
  10. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Certificate in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or other related fields from a government-recognized institution, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

6. LABORATORY ASSISTANT TECHNICIAN GRADE II – 02 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct daily testing of water samples to determine the type and quantity of treatment chemicals required.
  2. Collect water samples from various points of the water treatment system for analysis and record keeping.
  3. Carry out water and wastewater treatment procedures.
  4. Conduct physical, chemical, and bacteriological analyses of water and wastewater.
  5. Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  6. Participate in data collection, preparation, and analysis related to water production, distribution, and quality.
  7. Maintain accurate laboratory records.
  8. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Certificate/FTC in Water Laboratory Engineering, Water Laboratory Technology, or related fields from a government-recognized institution, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

7. PLUMBING TECHNICIAN (WATER PLANT OPERATOR) – 02 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operate water pumps according to approved schedules and ensure the correct amount of water is pumped from storage facilities.
  2. Monitor water levels in tanks and reservoirs.
  3. Carry out maintenance of water pumps, dosing pumps, water valves, and related equipment.
  4. Monitor power availability and maintain records of power interruptions.
  5. Ensure chlorine and other treatment chemicals are applied according to required standards.
  6. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess Form IV or Form VI education and Trade Test Grade II, Level II, or NTA Level 4 or 5 in Pump Technology, Electronics, Domestic/Industrial Electrical Installation, or other related fields from a government-recognized institution, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS

  1. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 30 years.
  2. Applicants must never have been convicted of any criminal offense.
  3. All applicants must attach certified copies of academic and professional certificates, including Form IV and Form VI certificates, certified by a Magistrate or Commissioner for Oaths.
  4. Applicants must attach a certified copy of their birth certificate.
  5. Applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), including physical address, telephone number, names of three referees, and one recent passport-size photograph with the applicant’s name written on the back.
  6. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results, Form IV and Form VI result slips, and transcripts not accompanied by certificates will not be accepted.
  7. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified and recognized by the relevant authorities (NECTA or NACTE).
  8. Applicants who submit forged certificates or false information will face legal action.
  9. All applications must be written in Kiswahili.
  10. Applicants must attach a copy of the National Identification Card (NIDA) or National Identification Number (NIN).
