ANNOUNCEMENT OF 37 VOLUNTEER POSITIONS IN HEALTH FACILITIES – KYERWA DISTRICT COUNCIL
All citizens of Kyerwa District Council and residents from other areas are hereby informed of volunteer opportunities available under a one-year contract in health facilities within Kyerwa District Council.
The Council requires a total of 37 volunteers distributed as follows:
1. Medical Doctor (2 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Provide preventive and curative healthcare services.
ii. Diagnose and treat common illnesses.
iii. Perform minor surgical procedures.
iv. Participate in planning and implementing Primary Health Care services.
v. Maintain records, prepare and submit implementation reports.
vi. Provide and supervise health education and promote community health within the area of work.
vii. Investigate, monitor and prevent disease outbreaks.
viii. Maintain and utilize health statistics according to MTUHA guidelines.
ix. Plan and evaluate health services within the area of work.
x. Train students and staff within the workplace.
xi. Supervise and guide subordinate staff.
xii. Design and conduct research and disseminate findings.
xiii. Develop strategies to improve service quality in the profession.
xiv. Prepare health service plans and budget estimates.
xv. Participate in medical audits and quality improvement activities.
xvi. Provide outreach services within the district.
xvii. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Doctor of Medicine degree from a university recognized by TCU.
b) Must have completed internship training.
c) Must possess a valid practicing license recognized by the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
d) Must not be employed.
e) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
f) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
2. Nurse (7 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Provide nursing services in communities, hospitals, and all healthcare settings.
ii. Supervise and coordinate activities of health attendants at the workplace.
iii. Collect statistics and prepare work performance reports.
iv. Provide home-based patient care.
v. Offer counseling services.
vi. Provide preventive and family planning services.
vii. Provide maternal and child health services.
viii. Educate patients and communities on health issues.
ix. Monitor the maintenance of working equipment.
x. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid practicing license recognized by the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
3. Pharmaceutical Technologist (8 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Identify, prepare, and order medicines and medical supplies.
ii. Dispense medicines and medical supplies to patients and staff.
iii. Compound medicines.
iv. Store medicines and medical supplies.
v. Educate the community on proper use of medicines.
vi. Inspect medicines, medical devices, chemicals, reagents, and cosmetics.
vii. Report adverse drug reactions.
viii. Coordinate activities of the hospital medicines committee.
ix. Prepare reports on medicine and medical supply usage.
x. Conduct quality assessments of medicines, medical devices, chemicals, reagents, and cosmetics.
xi. Conduct inspections of medicine storage facilities.
xii. Maintain medicine and medical supply records.
xiii. Supervise subordinate staff.
xiv. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
4. Clinical Officer (2 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Provide preventive and curative healthcare services.
ii. Diagnose and treat common illnesses.
iii. Perform minor surgical procedures.
iv. Participate in planning and implementing Primary Health Care services.
v. Advise and mobilize citizens on health services.
vi. Maintain records of equipment and tools used in service delivery.
vii. Maintain records and prepare implementation reports.
viii. Supervise subordinate staff.
ix. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
5. Dental Therapist (2 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Provide preventive and curative healthcare services.
ii. Diagnose and treat common illnesses.
iii. Perform minor procedures.
iv. Participate in planning and implementing Primary Health Care services.
v. Advise and mobilize citizens on health services.
vi. Maintain records of equipment and tools used in service delivery.
vii. Maintain records and prepare implementation reports.
viii. Supervise subordinate staff.
ix. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Diploma in Dental Therapy from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
6. Health Attendant (2 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Clean equipment, wards, and surrounding environments.
ii. Assist disabled and dependent patients with personal hygiene and toileting.
iii. Assist and feed dependent patients.
iv. Take patients’ clothes for laundry.
v. Deliver laboratory samples and follow up on results.
vi. Prepare equipment for wound cleaning and dressing.
vii. Follow up on medicine requirements from the pharmacy store.
viii. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education and a One-Year Health Training Certificate from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must not be employed.
c) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
d) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
7. Assistant Pharmaceutical Technologist (2 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Prepare medicine and medical supply requirements and utilization reports.
ii. Order, store, and distribute medicines and medical supplies.
iii. Prepare medicine and medical supply utilization reports.
iv. Maintain medicine and medical supply records.
v. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
8. Assistant Nursing Officer (3 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Provide nursing services.
ii. Collect important health statistics.
iii. Guide subordinate nurses.
iv. Educate patients and communities on health issues.
v. Provide preventive and reproductive health services.
vi. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
9. Assistant Laboratory Technologist (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Prepare laboratory reagents.
ii. Perform preliminary processing of laboratory samples.
iii. Collect blood samples from patients and volunteers.
iv. Record test results in registers.
v. Prepare working equipment.
vi. Store samples according to established procedures.
vii. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Tanzania Laboratory Professionals Council.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
10. Laboratory Technologist (2 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Analyze laboratory samples.
ii. Store samples requiring further analysis or referral to higher-level laboratories.
iii. Conduct inspections of laboratories, reagents, equipment, chemicals, and chemical storage facilities.
iv. Maintain laboratory records and examination results.
v. Train subordinate staff.
vi. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to education, experience, and skills.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must possess a valid license recognized by the Tanzania Laboratory Professionals Council.
c) Must not be employed.
d) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
e) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
11. Mortuary Attendant (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Clean the mortuary.
ii. Receive, wash, and preserve bodies.
iii. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education and a Certificate in Mortuary Health Services from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must not be employed.
c) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
12. Assistant Records Officer (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Organize and maintain patient records at the health facility.
ii. Register patients in the GoTHoMIS health management system.
iii. Consolidate patient records into a single file.
iv. Prepare daily reports of attended patients.
v. Schedule patient appointments according to established timetables.
vi. Prepare health statistics and disease trends for research purposes within the district.
vii. Educate clients to pass through reception before receiving services.
viii. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Records Management from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must not be employed.
c) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
d) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
13. Accounts Assistant (4 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Prepare payment invoices for clients.
ii. Maintain accounting registers and records.
iii. Keep records of income and expenditure for the health facility.
iv. Prepare payments for the assigned facility.
v. Deliver payment documents to the bank.
vi. Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for the assigned facility.
vii. Educate clients on contribution and payment procedures before receiving services.
viii. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
a) Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Accounting from a college recognized by NACTE.
b) Must not be employed.
c) Must be ready to work at any assigned health facility.
d) Must not have volunteered in Kyerwa District Council for more than two years.
