POSITION: GRADUATE TRAINEE – HSSE

CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT
• HSE is the responsibility of everyone; your main objective must be to build a strong safety culture among all employees and contractors working at your site.
• Working long hours and sometimes during weekends and public holidays.
• Close coordination with:
Internally: Operations Manager, Internal Auditor, Commercial Department, Network Manager, HR Manager, Depot Managers, Transport Manager and other departments.
Externally: Contractors, Government institutions such as OSHA and NEMC.
ACTIVITIES
• Continuous coordination and follow-up of training programs (local and regulatory trainings).
• Conduct HSE-related inspections at the Head Office.
• Coordinate and conduct monthly HSE & REX committee meetings and follow-up actions from committees.
• Conduct quarterly drills at Headquarters to ensure readiness for emergency response.
• Continuous follow-up and update of cases in Ramses.
• Conduct internal training, toolbox talks and spearhead HSE campaigns to promote a safety culture.
• Visit worksites and service stations to conduct HSE inspections.
• Follow up and maintain firefighting equipment at Headquarters.
• Promote near-miss reporting, golden rules and use of stop cards.
• Participate in accident investigation and reporting.
• Follow and facilitate implementation of affiliate HSE objectives.
• Participate and conduct HSE evaluations for bidders of tenders involving high HSE risks.
• Ensure availability of proper PPE and monitor PPE inventory and utilization.
• Create and review HSE programs, policies, plans and procedures.
• Manage employee health, including monitoring food quality, drinking water and cleanliness of sanitary facilities.
• Track and review HSE management system documents (manuals, policies and procedures) and ensure they are updated and posted on referential sites.
• Keep track of the HSE procedures criticality file.
• Optimize waste trade and recycling through proper data tracking and waste segregation.
• Coordinate the GR challenge and improve staff participation in HSE initiatives.
• Conduct annual risk assessment studies for Headquarters (IH, Risk Register, IEP, CTA, etc.).
• Implement SRM+, SOCRAT, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable change initiatives to ensure harmonization of operations and communities.
• Complete any other tasks assigned by the HSE Manager.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Must possess at least two years of work experience in HSE, preferably in oil and gas, mining or power plants.
• Must possess a degree from a recognized higher learning institution.
• Must possess HSE qualifications; an engineering background will be an added advantage.
• Must have a good command of English language (speaking and writing) and be an effective communicator.
• Computer skills, conversant with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Must be independent and able to deliver under minimum supervision.
• Must be ready to work under high pressure and demonstrate a high level of commitment to work.
