Position 1: Data Officer (1 Position)
Location: Bagamoyo, Tanzania

Position Summary
The Data Officer will support the Vector Control and Product Testing Unit (VCPTU) by ensuring the management of high-quality data across laboratory and field-based studies. The successful candidate will oversee data collection, entry, cleaning, analysis, storage, and security while ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards. The position contributes to evidence-based decision-making through robust data systems, real-time monitoring, and statistical reporting for malaria vector control, insecticide resistance monitoring, and product evaluation studies.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain data management systems and databases such as REDCap, ODK, and SQL.
• Oversee data entry, validation, cleaning, and deduplication processes.
• Conduct routine data quality audits and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and security.
• Develop digital data collection tools using platforms such as ODK, KoboToolbox, and SurveyCTO.
• Train and supervise field teams on data collection procedures and tool utilization.
• Monitor incoming data in real time and provide feedback to data collectors.
• Perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses using Stata, R, SPSS, or Python.
• Generate dashboards, analytical reports, and data summaries for stakeholders.
• Support donor reporting, scientific publications, and presentations.
• Maintain documentation of data workflows, metadata, codebooks, and analysis scripts.
• Support system backups, server maintenance, database administration, and version control.
• Provide technical support and training to project staff on data management procedures.
• Collaborate with IT and Monitoring & Evaluation teams to address data-related needs.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• At least 2–3 years of experience in data management or monitoring and evaluation, preferably within health, research, or development sectors.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, and SQL.
• Experience using data analysis software including Python, STATA, R, or MATLAB.
• Strong statistical analysis and data management skills.
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms such as Google Cloud and AWS.
• Understanding of data protection regulations and ethical data management practices.
• Experience in developing mobile applications and web-based database systems is an added advantage.
• Experience publishing in international peer-reviewed journals is an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary research teams.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills with excellent presentation abilities.
• Ambition to pursue MSc or PhD studies in a related field is desirable.
Position 2: Electrician Intern (1 Position)
Location: Ifakara Branch, Tanzania

Position Summary
IHI is seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Electrician Intern to support the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the Institute’s facilities. The role involves troubleshooting electrical faults, performing installations and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure reliable water and electricity supply in offices, staff houses, and guest facilities.
• Conduct routine servicing of air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers in offices, laboratories, and residential facilities.
• Maintain generators, including refueling and recording operational hours for maintenance scheduling.
• Prepare reports on identified defects and request materials required for repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of electrical installations and repairs.
• Comply with workplace safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
• Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
