Position 1: Head; Financial Institutions and DFIs (1 Position)

Job Purpose
Responsible for leading NMB's strategic engagement with Financial Institutions, correspondent banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), and International Organizations (IOs). The role focuses on growing and deepening institutional relationships that diversify the bank's funding sources, unlock trade finance limits and guarantees to support off-balance sheet capacity, and secure technical assistance and capacity building support for NMB and its business units. The role also facilitates opportunities for NMB's management to share the bank's expertise and success within development finance and institutional partner networks.
Main Responsibilities
Business Strategic Focus
- Establish and maintain strong cordial relationships with local banks, foreign correspondent banks, non-bank financial institutions, DFIs, MDBs, IOs, and other related clients to develop, promote and support growth of the bank's business.
- Grow and diversify the FIs, DFIs and MDBs clients' portfolio in terms of geographic locations, currencies (Nostro accounts), and investment/financing philosophies (impact versus general investors).
- Negotiate lines of credit/limits with local and foreign FIs, DFIs and MDBs to facilitate transactions and drive revenues across various products including trade finance, money markets, foreign exchange, derivatives, cash, and capital markets products.
- Negotiate pricing on products and services offered by correspondent banks, DFIs, MDBs and other non-bank FIs to ensure competitiveness in the market.
- Cross sell NMB's products and services to FIs, DFIs and MDBs to maximize business from each relationship.
- Act as a point of contact for all FIs, DFIs and MDBs dealing with NMB to ensure all queries and complaints related to these clients are addressed timely.
Funding
- Develop and implement strategies to raise mid and long-term financing for the bank in line with the bank's growth ambitions.
- Manage an optimal growth in liabilities (borrowings) with a diverse use of proceeds from new and existing FIs, DFIs and MDBs clients.
- Manage existing loans from DFIs and MDBs and monitor development of various internal and external factors to decide on early repayments, cancellation, renewal, or conversion of the loan status.
- Coordinate and manage end-to-end borrowing processes from DFIs and MDBs including approvals, due diligence, negotiation and execution of financing contracts, and post-funding reporting.
- Work with Trading and ALM teams to hedge against significant financial risks related to the bank's borrowings.
Partnerships and Investments
- Research and analyze selected FIs, DFIs, MDBs and IOs investment policies, strategies, trends, and operations to identify areas for potential collaboration.
- Facilitate potential equity partnerships between NMB and FIs, DFIs and MDBs.
- Work with the Advisory team and Strategy and Growth Department to arrange participation of FIs, DFIs and MDBs in investment opportunities including public and private capital markets transactions.
- Support NMB's investment process in corporate bonds and other securities issued by FIs, DFIs and MDBs.
- Organize, co-arrange and participate in FIs, DFIs and MDBs events, initiatives and programs locally and internationally.
Thought Leadership & Technical Assistance
- Identify and solicit technical assistance grants, capacity building programs, and advisory support available from DFIs and MDBs.
- Manage engagement with DFI and MDB technical assistance programs from application to implementation and reporting.
- Facilitate thought leadership opportunities for NMB senior management through conferences, publications, forums and industry events.
- Coordinate development and submission of NMB success stories, case studies and best practice contributions to DFI and MDB knowledge platforms and publications.
- Work closely with Marketing, Communications and business units to align external thought leadership engagements with NMB's strategic objectives.
Operations Focus
- Ensure AML/KYC and due diligence requirements are performed in accordance with approved standards.
- Coordinate responses to all KYC requests, reviews and due diligence processes involving NMB.
- Manage requirements of all existing Nostro and Vostro accounts to ensure compliance.
- Prepare credit limit proposals for board approval.
- Ensure timely settlement of obligations owed to FIs, DFIs, MDBs and related clients.
- Coordinate and manage meetings between NMB and institutional partners.
- Ensure adherence to all pre and post funding requirements and covenants.
Leadership & People Management
- Oversee implementation of the desk's strategy.
- Motivate, coach and inspire team members to achieve performance objectives.
- Provide strategic direction and improve productivity within the desk.
- Align targets with direct reports and ensure adherence to risk, compliance and governance requirements.
- Ensure effective career development and succession planning.
- Act as first-level escalation point for grievances raised by internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough understanding of the banking environment and industry trends.
- Strong technical knowledge in Treasury, Capital Markets, Trade Finance, International Banking, Correspondent Banking, Payments, Credit Analysis and Sustainable Finance.
- Knowledge of project finance is an added advantage.
- Understanding of international financing structures used by MDBs and DFIs.
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent negotiation, networking and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
- Results-oriented with the ability to adapt to industry developments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related fields.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage.
- Professional certification in Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Credit Analysis, Sustainability or Sustainable Finance is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a senior managerial position.
- Demonstrated experience working with local, regional and global Financial Institutions, DFIs, MDBs and International Organizations.
Position 2: Manager; Credit Operations Unsecured Retail and Digital Products (1 Position)

Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end disbursement process for all unsecured and digital retail credit facilities, ensuring efficient, timely and compliant processing in line with internal policies and external regulations.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee all digital product disbursements to ensure accuracy, efficiency and risk minimization.
- Ensure loan disbursements are executed accurately and within agreed service levels and turnaround times.
- Verify and authorize manually booked facilities, reversals and restructured loans in the core banking system.
- Promote a culture of high ethical standards and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with Risk, Credit, Legal and Compliance teams to maintain disbursement quality.
- Work with ICT, Business and Product teams to optimize existing workflows and design improved processes.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure full compliance with procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage and coach disbursement officers and senior officers to improve performance and engagement.
- Identify and report suspicious transactions, risk events and system anomalies.
- Monitor team activities and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports.
- Oversee the accuracy and completeness of data submitted for posting.
- Review daily disbursement transactions and report system issues for timely resolution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve digital products and workflows for profitability and scalability.

- Experience with digital loan products is an added advantage.
