Position: Relationship Manager (Corporate Banking)

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Directly manage relationships covering a portfolio of corporate banking customers.
  • Personally manage customer relationships and sustain the corporate banking customer portfolio by building long-term relationships founded on efficient and reliable support for clients' businesses.
  • Drive business development with both new and existing customers while managing the Bank's reputation risk.

Scope of Duties – Business Development

  • Maintain and grow a profitable portfolio through disciplined and proactive business development and relationship management.
  • Focus on the target client profile, understand clients' financial needs, and effectively communicate the Bank's value proposition.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Bank products and services and communicate key product information to clients.
  • Analyze client and prospect needs to recommend appropriate banking products and services and conduct interim reviews for both borrowing and non-borrowing customers.
  • Achieve established Bank production goals through active participation in the sales management process.
  • Monitor customer complaints and ensure high-quality portfolio management.
  • Participate in community events and networking activities to increase awareness and presence of the Bank.
  • Formulate business development strategies and objectives for assigned industries or market segments to meet changing market needs.
  • Identify key risk factors associated with business opportunities and prepare sound credit recommendations.
  • Prepare credit presentations and participate in underwriting and credit approval processes.
  • Structure, underwrite, obtain credit approvals, negotiate terms, and effectively document credit actions and agreements.
  • Ensure all loans are properly documented and resolve any documentation or policy exceptions.
  • Take full ownership of assigned client relationships.
  • Prioritize customer relationships and maintain an effective relationship management plan for each client.
  • Apply a consultative approach to understand clients' objectives, identify financial needs, implement suitable financial solutions, and conduct ongoing reviews to ensure successful execution.
  • Collaborate effectively with client service teams, product teams, and senior management to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively provide solutions.
  • Understand key relationship stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures affecting commercial relationships.

Portfolio Management

  • Accountable for overall portfolio management, compliance, and risk management.
  • Monitor portfolio exposures to ensure performance remains consistent with approved limits, loan structures, and credit approval expectations.
  • Complete accurate and timely credit actions, including periodic reviews, renewals, and loan modifications.

Technical Know-How

  • Knowledge of relevant banking policies, procedures, prudential guidelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate information from multiple sources.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage high-profile client relationships independently while maintaining effective communication with senior management.
  • Ability to negotiate approval terms and conditions within assigned authority limits.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience managing high-value private or commercial banking relationships, including developing, structuring, underwriting, and negotiating complex credit transactions.
