The Embassy of Ireland, Dar es Salaam, is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to fill a maternity cover temporary vacancy for the position of Properties Management Officer from August 2026 to January 2027.
Position: Temporary Properties Management Officer
Location: Embassy of Ireland, Dar es Salaam
The Embassy of Ireland works to promote and protect abroad the values, interests and economic well-being of Ireland and its people through its staff at home and across its global Embassy network.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the health and safety of staff and residents by adhering to safety guidelines.
- Carry out regular inspections of the premises.
- Perform routine maintenance on facilities and undertake repairs as needed.
- Manage emergency issues affecting the safety, security, or usability of facilities and maintain contingency plans.
- Monitor the safety and cleanliness of both interior and exterior areas including offices, conference rooms, parking areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Ensure facilities are properly maintained and remain in good condition in collaboration with the Executive Housekeeper for the Residence.
- Schedule routine inspections and emergency repairs with external vendors when required.
- Coordinate daily janitorial services to maintain attractive and hygienic working environments.
- Ensure repair and maintenance of fittings and furniture.
- Conduct proactive maintenance to ensure basic facilities remain operational and well-maintained.
- Oversee building projects and renovation activities.
- Prepare reports on maintenance, repairs, safety matters, and other relevant occurrences for supervisors and staff.
- Maintain records of utility usage, including generator, solar installation, electricity, and water.
- Liaise with service providers to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- Advanced Level Certificate of Education, Diploma, or VETA Certificate.
- Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and other building systems.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a similar role and environment requiring high-quality outputs.
- A positive track record of work performance.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, guests, vendors, and team members at all levels.
- Ability to use basic email and software applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
- Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
- A well-organized, credible, hardworking, interactive, flexible, adaptable, and self-driven personality.
- Proficiency in the use of repair tools and maintenance techniques.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work comfortably while standing or walking for extended periods.
- A permanent legal right to reside and work in Tanzania.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working with Embassies, international organizations, reputable hotels, serviced properties, or established companies.
Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Fixed-term contract of up to six months to provide maternity cover, including a probationary period.
- Based at the Embassy offices in Dar es Salaam.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Annual leave entitlement of 20 days per annum, applied on a pro-rata basis.
- Competitive salary of TZS 33,876,031 per annum, applied pro rata, including a 13th-month payment.
- Additional benefits include health insurance and training opportunities.
- Salaries are subject to tax deductions and paid directly to a bank account; therefore, applicants must have a bank account.

Selection Process
