The Bagamoyo African Institute of Sciences and Technology (BIST) is registered by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) with Registration Number REG/NACTVET/1185. The institute hereby invites applications from self-motivated, flexible, honest, hardworking, and committed individuals working in a multicultural environment to fill the following vacant positions from competent and suitably qualified persons in order to enhance its human resource capacity needed to fulfill its mission.
1. TUTORS – Occupational Health and Safety (03 Positions)
Duty Station: Bagamoyo
Job Purpose
The Tutor is responsible for delivering competency-based training, conducting applied research, and facilitating practical and theoretical learning for students in the field of Occupational Health and Safety. The role focuses on effective curriculum implementation, student assessment, and instilling workplace safety standards and risk management practices in line with NACTVET guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Diploma).
- To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises.
- To conduct research, seminars, practicals, and case studies.
- To supervise field practicals and NTA Level 6 students' projects.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or any other equivalent closely related qualification from a recognized institution.
- At least two (2) years of working experience in the field.
- CBET Training will be an added advantage.
2. TUTORS – Land Survey and Mapping (05 Positions)
Duty Station: Bagamoyo
Job Purpose
The Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and practical training in Land Surveying, Geomatics, and Mapping Technologies. The role focuses on equipping learners with relevant technical skills in GIS, Remote Sensing, Engineering Surveying, and Cartography while ensuring compliance with academic and industry standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Diploma).
- To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises.
- To conduct research, seminars, practical field surveys, and case studies.
- To supervise field practicals and NTA Level 6 students' projects.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering (with a Surveying bias), GIS and Remote Sensing, or any other equivalent closely related qualification from a recognized institution.
- At least two (2) years of working experience in the field.
- CBET Training will be an added advantage.
3. Tutor Assistant – Medical Laboratory Science (03 Positions)
Duty Station: Bagamoyo
Job Purpose
Responsible for delivering high-quality training, laboratory demonstrations, and applied research in Medical Laboratory Sciences. The role focuses on equipping learners with technical competence in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Laboratory Quality Control procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Diploma).
- To prepare learning resources and set up laboratory practicals for students.
- To conduct research, seminars, laboratory practicals, and clinical case studies.
- To supervise hospital/field practicals and NTA Level 6 students' projects.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Health Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with the relevant professional regulatory body (e.g., Health Laboratory Practitioners Council).
- At least two (2) years of working experience in a hospital/laboratory field.
- CBET Training will be an added advantage.
4. Tutor Assistant – Veterinary Laboratory Technology (03 Positions)
Duty Station: Bagamoyo
Job Purpose
You will be responsible for delivering practical and theoretical training in Veterinary Laboratory Technology. The role focuses on instructing students in animal disease diagnostics, veterinary microbiology, pathology, parasitology, and the proper management of veterinary laboratory facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Diploma).
- To prepare learning resources and manage veterinary laboratory diagnostic exercises.
- To conduct research, seminars, laboratory practicals, and case studies.
- To supervise field practicals and NTA Level 6 students' projects.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Veterinary Laboratory Technology, Animal Health and Production (with strong laboratory bias), or any other equivalent closely related qualification from a recognized institution.
- At least two (2) years of working experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory.
- CBET Training will be an added advantage.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must have working experience of not less than two (2) years in the same position.
