POSITION 1: Relationship Manager - Commercial Banking


Position: 1


Reporting To: Senior Manager, Commercial Banking


Responsible For: Business Development and Relationship Management of the Bank's Commercial Portfolio


Department: CIB Department


Region: Dar es Salaam


Hours of Work: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Additional hours as required by the workload.


1. PURPOSE OF JOB:


· The primary purpose of this role is to drive the growth of assets, liabilities, and profitability within the Commercial Banking portfolio in the assigned regions by acquiring new clients, delivering tailored financial solutions, and deepening existing client relationships.

· The Relationship Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying market opportunities, acquiring new clients, and fostering long-term relationships with mid-sized businesses within the assigned region. As a trusted advisor, the Relationship Manager will be responsible for delivering exceptional client service, maximizing wallet share, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining full compliance with the bank's credit and risk policies. Additionally, the role will contribute to strengthening the bank's brand presence and reputation in the region.

· The role requires a strong balance of business development, credit structuring, and portfolio management capabilities.


2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


· Proactively identify and engage prospective commercial banking clients, ensuring successful onboarding in accordance with the bank's business development and growth strategy.

· Develop and execute effective client acquisition strategies to expand the commercial banking client base within the assigned region.

· Achieve assigned targets related to portfolio expansion, revenue growth, and product penetration within the designated region, in alignment with the bank's commercial banking strategy.

· Promote and cross-sell the full range of commercial banking products and solutions, including lending, trade finance, deposits, and cash management, to meet diverse client needs and maximize wallet share.

· Manage the growth of well-priced assets and cost-effective, long-term liabilities by targeting reputable companies and organizations, with the objective of maximizing the Bank's profitability.

· Maintain and strengthen key customer relationships through regular visits and engagement, ensuring the implementation of an effective call program for both existing and prospective clients.

· Uphold high professional standards while delivering quality financial solutions and ensuring competitive pricing to meet client needs.

· Cultivate strong relationships with clients to position the bank as their preferred partner for banking needs.

· Establish and maintain high-quality, profit-generating customer relationships within the targeted commercial market segment.

· Monitor the performance of the portfolio to ensure asset quality, proactively manage emerging risks, and maintain minimal levels of Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) in line with regulatory and internal compliance standards.

· Ensure full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations in all interactions with existing and prospective clients.


3. KEY COMPETENCES:


· Proven ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities, build a strong pipeline, and convert prospects into long-term clients.

· Strong skills in assessing financial statements, preparing credit proposals, and understanding risk profiles of the commercial banking segment.

· In-depth understanding of commercial banking products such as trade finance, working capital, term loans, deposits, and cash management.

· Awareness of economic, industry, and competitor trends affecting the commercial banking segment.

· Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.

· Strong people management skills with the ability to lead client engagements and collaborate effectively across teams.

· Experience in structured trade finance and project financing is highly desirable and will be considered an added advantage.

· Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Swahili to ensure clear and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

· Ability to accurately assess customer needs and tailor financial products to effectively meet those requirements.

· Proven ability to manage time effectively and work efficiently to meet deadlines.

· Willingness and ability to travel frequently, as required, to support business objectives.


4. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


· A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, ACCA, CPA) will be an added advantage.

· Minimum of 3 to 5 years' proven experience in relationship management within a commercial or corporate banking environment.

POSITION 2: Assistant Relationship Manager


Position: 1


Reporting To: Senior Manager, Large Corporate


Department: CIB Department


Region: Dar es Salaam, Coastal and Zanzibar


Hours of Work: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Additional hours as required by the workload.


1. PURPOSE OF JOB:


The Assistant Relationship Manager supports Relationship Managers in managing, retaining, and growing the corporate banking portfolio by providing strong credit analysis, proactive portfolio monitoring, and responsive client service. The role contributes to sound credit decision-making through comprehensive financial assessment, timely preparation of credit proposals, continuous monitoring of facility performance, and close follow-up on compliance requirements. The position also supports relationship activities to enhance customer satisfaction, manage risk, and contribute to sustainable business growth.


2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


A. Credit Assessment & Analysis


· Review and analyse credit requests by assessing financial statements, cash flows, repayment capacity, business performance, and other relevant credit information for corporate clients.

· Prepare high-quality credit applications, including renewals, amendments, and new facility proposals, in line with the Bank's credit policy and under the guidance of the Relationship Manager.

· Conduct periodic industry, market, and economic analysis, including stress testing where applicable, and recommend appropriate actions to support portfolio quality and risk management.


B. Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management


· Monitor asset and liability accounts to identify irregular activity, prevent unauthorized excesses, and support timely corrective action.

· Perform early-warning and portfolio review activities to identify potential problem credits and escalate concerns in a timely manner.

· Review security documentation and collateral records for assigned corporate accounts to ensure completeness, validity, and compliance with approved facility terms.

· Track compliance with loan covenants, approval conditions, and facility terms, and escalate exceptions or deviations for resolution.


C. Relationship Support & Customer Service


· Support Relationship Managers in managing client relationships, growing liability balances, and delivering effective after-sales service.

· Maintain regular and professional client engagement to improve satisfaction, support service delivery, and uphold the Bank's customer service standards.

· Act as a dependable point of contact for routine client enquiries, documentation follow-up, and operational support within the assigned portfolio.


3. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:


· University degree or professional qualification in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.

· Two to three years of relevant experience in corporate banking, credit analysis, relationship support, or a similar role.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.


Key Competencies:


· Strong technical ability to perform credit analysis, financial statement review, covenant monitoring, and portfolio maintenance to required quality standards.

POSITION 3: Alternative Delivery Channel Officer


Position: 1


Reporting To: Head - Alternate Channel and Digital Transformation


Department: Retail Banking


Region: Dar es Salaam


Hours of Work: 8am – 5:30pm Monday – Friday. 8am – 1pm Saturdays. Or different hours as per individual branches working hours.


1. PURPOSE OF JOB:


· To assist Assistant Manager to grow and support Merchant Acquiring business through POS Channel and other digital products of the bank assigned.

· To promote and sell the Acquiring Business of the Bank. He/She will be responsible for identifying potential merchants and drive acquisition through team and branches.


2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. Acquisition & Customer Portfolio Management


· Create new sales and revenue generating opportunities as appropriate.

· Utilize a consultative sales approach that ensures that the client's business objectives are met, and that the performance metrics of their payment portfolios are maximized.

· Develop partnership and campaigns with merchants as per assigned portfolio and territory to grow revenues and brand visibility for both during the year.

· Prepare proposals, high impact sales presentations and negotiate contractual relationships with new and existing customers.


2. Retention of Existing Customers


· To manage customer queries of all merchants in the assigned portfolio.

· Identify and arrange partnership marketing campaigns with merchants within the assigned portfolio for bank brand awareness and business growth.

· Expand existing relationships/partnerships through the selling of Bank products both traditional and digital services through relationship managers as and when required.

· Manage active/inactive merchants to grow profitability.

· Manage POS through proper allocation or recovery as and when required.


3. Team/Internal Management


· Serve as customer advocate internally while effectively collaborating with internal cross-functional teams.


4. Reporting


· Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales call reports.

· Develop deep understanding of the merchant business and provide analytical and strategic reports for NTB (weekly) that will help to track business in relation to business objectives.

· Provide competitor intelligence reports on products and tariffs.

· Ensure merchant Database and PoS Verification tables are updated.


3. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:


· Diploma / Degree in IT, Business or Banking

· A pleasant personality

1. PURPOSE OF JOB:


The Relationship Officer supports the effective management of the corporate credit portfolio by maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer and facility information, monitoring compliance with approved facility terms, and ensuring adherence to KYC, AML, regulatory, and security documentation requirements. The role contributes to strong risk management, operational discipline, and high-quality customer service in line with the Bank's standards and business objectives.


2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


· Initial preparation of credit requests by assessing financial statements, cash flows, repayment capacity, business performance, and other relevant credit information for corporate clients.

· Prepare credit applications for renewals, amendments, and new facility proposals, in line with the Bank's credit policy and under the guidance of the Assistant Relationship Manager.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial and non-financial information for assigned corporate loan accounts, including covenant tracking, facility spreads, repayment schedules, and periodic reporting requirements.

· Monitor customer and facility compliance with approved terms and conditions, escalating exceptions, breaches, or overdue documentation promptly for corrective action.

· Ensure full adherence to KYC, AML, screening sanctions, and other regulatory requirements by maintaining complete customer records and supporting timely remediation of compliance gaps.

· Conduct periodic and annual reviews of security documentation for corporate accounts to confirm completeness, validity, and alignment with approved facility structures.

· Support Relationship Managers in portfolio administration, client follow-ups, document collection, and resolution of customer service matters.

· Prepare, update, and maintain portfolio reports, call notes, compliance trackers, and other records required for effective relationship and credit monitoring.

· Coordinate with Credit, Legal, Operations, Trade Finance, Risk, Compliance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of portfolio-related activities.

· Provide customer service aligned with the Bank's mission, values, and service standards.

· Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with the role's purpose and departmental objectives.


3. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:


· Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.

· One to two years of relevant experience in relationship management support, credit administration, portfolio monitoring, or corporate banking operations.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsible For: Managing Chinese Owned Relationship at 360°

1. PURPOSE OF JOB:


· The role is responsible for driving business growth and managing relationships within the Chinese business community operating in Tanzania.

· The successful candidate will focus on acquiring new Chinese-owned businesses while deepening and maximizing opportunities within the existing portfolio through the provision of tailored banking solutions.

· The role holder will act as the key contact person for Chinese customers by leveraging language proficiency, cultural understanding, and relationship management skills to deliver exceptional customer experience and support the bank's growth strategy.

· The role is focused on growing deposits, assets, trade-related business, and overall revenue contribution from the Chinese customer segment across sectors such as manufacturing, construction, trading, infrastructure, and related industries.

· Responsible for ensuring strong collaboration between customers, operations, and internal stakeholders to maintain high service standards and efficient turnaround times.


2. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND APPROXIMATE TIME SPLIT:


· Achieve sales and portfolio growth targets as agreed within the annual performance objectives.

· Drive acquisition of new Chinese-owned corporate and SME relationships in line with the bank's growth strategy.

· Identify opportunities within the existing portfolio to grow customer wallet share through deposits, lending, trade-related solutions, FX, and other banking products.

· Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with Chinese business owners, promoters, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

· Serve as the primary relationship contact for the Chinese customer segment and ensure superior customer experience at all times.
