1. INTRODUCTION

Dar es Salaam Tumaini University (DarTU) is undergoing strategic re-engineering and rebranding to align with emerging developments in journalism and mass communication, legal education, language and communication skills, and library and information studies. As part of this transformation, DarTU aims to strengthen its academic and technological capacity to address emerging trends and deliver innovative and industry-responsive academic programmes.

The University seeks to recruit qualified, dynamic, and proactive Tanzanian candidates for the following positions:

1. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN LAW (2 POSTS)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of Master of Laws (LLM), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and PhD in Law from accredited higher learning institutions.
  • Minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0 or B+ in Master's Degree.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5/5.0 in Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • At least six (6) years of post-PhD work experience.
  • Proven experience in teaching and research.
  • Ability to teach Law courses at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
  • University teaching experience and admission as an Advocate of the High Court will be an added advantage.
  • Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, International Trade and Investment Law, Law of Evidence, Law of Trusts and Succession, Labour Law, Land Law, Oil and Gas Law, Tax Law, and Legal Writing and Drafting.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the University induction programme and pedagogical training.
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, invigilation, and assessments.
  • Provide academic and administrative leadership.
  • Mentor junior academic and professional staff.
  • Develop, review, and implement academic curricula.
  • Coordinate university programmes and activities.
  • Conduct quality research and publish scholarly work.
  • Engage in consultancy and community outreach.
  • Publish books and book chapters.
  • Supervise undergraduate, Master's, and PhD research.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and symposia.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by University authorities.

2. SENIOR LECTURER IN LAW (2 POSTS)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's in Laws (LLM), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and PhD in Law.
  • GPA of at least 4.0/5.0 (Master's) and 3.5/5.0 (Bachelor's).
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of five publication points from peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in teaching and research.
  • Ability to teach Law at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Advocate of the High Court and university teaching experience will be an added advantage.
  • Preference in the listed Law specializations.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.

  • GPA of at least 4.0/5.0 in Master's and 3.5/5.0 in Bachelor's.
  • Minimum three (3) years of teaching and research experience.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate Law courses.
  • University teaching experience and Advocate of the High Court status are advantages.
  • Preference in the listed Law specializations.
  • Strong command of English.

  • Plan and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.
  • Develop and revise course content.
  • Prepare and mark assessments and examinations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Library and Information Studies, Library Science, Information Science, Information Systems, Records Management and Archives Administration, Information Management, or related field.
  • GPA of at least 4.0/5.0 in Master's and 3.5/5.0 in Bachelor's.
  • Knowledge of digital libraries, information management systems, library automation software, data organization, or database management is highly recommended.

11. ASSISTANT LECTURER IN LINGUISTICS AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS (2 POSTS)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree in Human Communication Studies, English Language, Linguistics, Kiswahili, Language Teaching, Language and Education, Language Studies, or related field with GPA of at least 4.0/5.0 or B+.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, English Language, Human Communication, Language Studies, Bachelor of Arts with Education, Bachelor of Education specializing in Language or Linguistics, or related field with GPA of at least 3.5/5.0.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.
