Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA) is a fully-fledged private university owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). Located in Usa River, Arusha, the University is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. TUMA is implementing the Participatory and Inclusive Teaching Approach (PITA) Project, which supports lower secondary school teachers in remote schools within Meru District Council through in-service training, competence-based pedagogy, and guidance and counselling services. The University invites applications from qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies:
Available Positions
1. Assistant Accountant (TUMA)
Core Responsibilities
- Process payments, receipts, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records and financial reports.
- Perform bank reconciliation and general accounting reconciliation.
- Follow up on all tax and other compliance requirements.
- Assist in audit activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Accountancy from a recognized institution.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Proficiency in at least one accounting software package such as QuickBooks or Pastel.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional working experience.
- High level of ethical integrity and accountability.
2. Guidance and Counselling Advisor (PITA Project)
Core Responsibilities
- Develop in-service training modules on school guidance and counselling frameworks.
- Mentor secondary school teachers in addressing students' academic, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
- Develop practical guidance and counselling toolkits and manuals.
Qualifications
- Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Applied Social Psychology, or Master of Education in Educational Psychology from a recognized institution.
- Minimum GPA of 4.0 at the Master's level and 3.5 at the undergraduate level.
- At least two (2) years of experience, preferably in educational settings or school-based counselling.
- High level of ethical integrity and accountability.
3. Project Assistant (PITA Project)
Core Responsibilities
- Support the Project Coordinator and project team in implementing project activities.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and project events.
- Participate in community-based project activities.
- Handle project communication, administration, and documentation.
- Assist in collecting, entering, and analyzing field data for project monitoring and evaluation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Community Development from a recognized institution with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in project implementation, preferably in the education sector or NGOs.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of ethical integrity and accountability.
Remuneration
Successful candidates will receive remuneration according to the TUMA Salary Scale and will work in a positive and supportive environment.
General Conditions
- All academic and professional certificates must be certified by the relevant authorities.
- Provisional results, statements of results, and Form IV or Form VI result slips will not be accepted.
- Applicants with qualifications obtained outside Tanzania must provide recognition or equivalency from the relevant authorities such as NECTA, NACTVET, or TCU.
