Heavy Truck Driver

As assigned by the company within or outside Tanzania.
Purpose of the Position
To safely, efficiently, and timely transport company and customer cargo while complying with Road Safety Regulations, company policies, and ensuring that the assigned vehicle is maintained in good working condition at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the truck safely while complying with Tanzania Road Safety Regulations and all company procedures.
- Deliver cargo on schedule without causing unnecessary damage, loss, or delays.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after every trip to identify any faults.
- Report any vehicle defects immediately to the relevant supervisor.
- Ensure all trip, cargo, and handover documentation is accurately completed and properly maintained.
- Protect cargo against damage, theft, or loss during loading, transportation, and unloading.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure timely servicing according to the company's maintenance schedule.
- Immediately report any accident, vehicle damage, or unusual incident occurring during work.
- Use fuel responsibly and prevent misuse of company resources.
- Maintain professional and respectful relationships with customers, warehouse personnel, transport supervisors, and relevant authorities.
- Ensure cargo weight complies with legal limits and all transportation procedures are followed.
- Adhere to travel schedules and carry out all lawful instructions issued by supervisors.
- Maintain the confidentiality of company information and safeguard all company property entrusted to you.
- Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned.
Applicant Qualifications
- Must have completed primary education and be able to read and write.
- Must possess a valid Tanzanian driving license authorizing the operation of heavy trucks.
- A professional driving certificate will be an added advantage.
- Must have at least three (3) years of experience driving heavy trucks or cargo vehicles.

- Good understanding of Tanzania Road Safety Regulations.
- Ability to conduct basic vehicle inspections and identify common mechanical faults.
- Ability to accurately complete trip documentation.
- Proficiency in using communication devices and GPS systems.
- Good trip planning and time management skills.

- High levels of integrity, accountability, discipline, and professional ethics.

Position Authority
- Stop a trip if the vehicle has defects that may endanger the safety of people, the vehicle, or the cargo.
- Report and recommend improvements to enhance transport safety and vehicle maintenance.
