Job Title: Manager – Credit Recovery

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required depending on workload.
Purpose of the Job
The Manager – Credit Recovery is responsible for monitoring accounts showing signs of concern, preventing deterioration into non-performing status, and implementing effective recovery strategies for non-performing and written-off accounts. The role ensures timely recovery of outstanding debts while maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify accounts exceeding sanctioned limits, expired facilities, or those with incomplete compliance requirements.
- Drive the achievement of recovery targets for Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) and written-off accounts.
- Engage customers through telephone calls, meetings, and written correspondence to negotiate repayment arrangements.
- Recommend settlements, rescheduling, or compromise solutions where appropriate.
- Prepare management reports, Board papers, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, banking regulations, and recovery procedures.
- Propose and support accounts for write-offs in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Recommend and document accounts to be abandoned from the Special Assets Management (SAM) portfolio following exhaustive recovery or settlement processes.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Identify accounts requiring legal action and coordinate with legal teams.
- Represent the Bank in court proceedings when required.
- Represent the Bank during Bank and Court auctions.
- Manage and supervise External Debt Collectors (EDCs).
Decision-Making Authority
- Negotiate repayment plans with delinquent customers.
- Issue reminder letters and legal demand notices.
- Engage third-party recovery agents where necessary.
- Conduct customer visits to assess business performance and repayment capacity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Banking, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a credit risk or credit recovery environment.
- Strong knowledge of banking legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
