The company is announcing job vacancies for the position of Loan Officer to fill vacant positions. This position provides an opportunity for people with knowledge and skills in the credit sector to work in providing loan services to customers while collaborating with the team and the company in growing and providing financial services.
POSITION: LOAN OFFICER
Reports to: Loan Manager
Department: Operations (Loan Department)
JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Loan Officer generally involves evaluating and providing loan services to customers by ensuring that loans are issued according to the policies and procedures of the institution. The Loan Officer will provide advice to customers regarding available loans, collect important information from customers, and provide recommendations regarding loan approvals.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY DUTIES
- EVALUATING LOAN APPLICATIONS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for receiving and evaluating loan applications from customers. This includes collecting and analyzing important information from the customer, such as credit history, income, collateral, and business intentions.
Duties:
- Collect important documents such as identification, financial statements, and business information.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations on loan applications.
- PROVIDING FINANCIAL ADVICE AND EDUCATION TO CUSTOMERS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for providing financial advice to customers on the types of loans they can access and how to manage their businesses to repay loans on time.
Duties:
- Provide education on good financial practices and how to manage debt.
- Help customers understand the terms and conditions of loans.
- CONDUCTING RISK ASSESSMENT
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for conducting risk assessments related to each customer before issuing a loan.
Duties:
- Assess the customer's ability to repay the loan considering factors such as income, collateral, history, and payments.
- Use various methods to measure risks such as financial assessment and customer business models.
- PREPARING LOAN REPORTS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for preparing and submitting reports on loans issued to the institution to ensure the sustainability of the loans.
Duties:
- Prepare monthly reports on loans issued, along with explanations about customers and loan types.
- Track loan status and prepare progress reports.
- COLLECTING AND FOLLOWING UP ON LOAN REPAYMENTS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for following up and collecting loan repayments from customers.
Duties:
- Follow up on payments and manage late payments.
- Conduct visits to customers who have delayed payments to find solutions and recover debts.
- MONITORING CUSTOMER LOAN STATUS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will ensure that issued loans are progressing successfully by reminding customers of the terms of their loans.
Duties:
- Monitor customer loan status to ensure they repay loans on time.
- Address issues and loan repayments to ensure customers receive the necessary assistance.
- IMPROVING LOAN PERFORMANCE AND SERVICES
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for providing recommendations to improve performance and loan procedures to improve customer service.
Duties:
- Provide recommendations on loan policies in various projects and customer service.
- Assist in improving procedures and strategies and monitoring loans.
- BUILDING AND MAINTAINING CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for strengthening relationships with customers to ensure they are satisfied with the loan services provided.
Duties:
- Maintain good relationships with customers by providing financial assistance and advice from time to time.
- Keep communication close to customers so they know the challenges they face and find solutions.
- COMPLYING WITH FINANCIAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will ensure that loan issuance is done in accordance with laws and regulations set by the institution and relevant authorities.
Duties:
- Have a deep understanding of laws and regulations related to loan issuance.
- Ensure loans are issued according to the institution's laws used in the microfinance context.
- MAINTAINING LOAN RECORDS
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for keeping all records of loans issued by tracking the progress of loan payments.
Duties:
- Manage the safekeeping of all loan records with accuracy.
- Follow procedures for record keeping and ensure they are easily available when needed for audit or assessment.
- CONDUCTING LOAN AUDITS AND PERFORMANCE MONITORING
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will be responsible for keeping all records of loans issued by tracking the progress of loan payments.
Duties:
- Conduct audits on loans to ensure they are being implemented (repaid) as planned.
- Monitor loan performance by taking steps to correct emerging issues.
- PARTICIPATING IN MARKETING EVENTS AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Responsibility: The Loan Officer will also be involved in participating in marketing events and business development, including attracting new customers.
Duties:
- Conduct monitoring of loan performance to ensure loans are repaid as planned.
- Assist in developing new products and providing better customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Management, or Economics.
- Understanding of laws and regulations related to loans and finance.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team.
- Ability to communicate well with customers in English and Swahili.
- Proficiency in using computer programs for loan management.
- Ability to lead loan issuance strategies ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
- Ability to make decisions: Possess the ability to make difficult decisions regarding loans, especially when assessing risks.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle (for males).
- Driver's license is an added advantage.
