ANNOUNCEMENT OF VOLUNTEER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT KILWA DISTRICT COUNCIL
The Executive Director of Kilwa District Council invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for volunteer employment opportunities. The general qualifications and conditions for all applicants are as follows:
I. Must be a Tanzanian citizen aged eighteen (18) years and above but not exceeding thirty-five (35) years, and must possess a National Identification (NIDA) card.
II. Must possess a Certificate, Diploma or Degree from a college/institution recognized by the Government.
III. Must not have previously been employed by any Public Institution since completing studies.
IV. Must have two (2) guarantors who are Public Servants.
V. Must have an introduction letter from the Village/Mtaa Executive Officer/Local Government authorities.
VI. Must be willing to volunteer in the respective area.
VII. Must not have been convicted by a court of law for any criminal offence.
VIII. Must be able to use a computer or smartphone.
IX. The volunteer period shall not exceed twelve (12) months and may be renewed for a maximum of two periods.
X. Volunteers will be paid TSh 250,000/= per month to cover transportation and meals.
1.0 POSITIONS ADVERTISED ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1.1 ASSISTANT INFORMATION OFFICER II – 1 POST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Mass Communication from a college/institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Collecting and writing news.
II. Educating the community about various development and socio-economic opportunities provided by the Council.
III. Performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director related to the institution.
IV. Taking photographs.
V. Preparing exhibition photographs.
VI. Preparing magazines and posters.
1.2 ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT – 42 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have graduated with a Diploma in Accounting, ATEC II from NBAA, Certificate in Accountancy, Certificate in Accountancy and Finance, Certificate in Business Administration majoring in Accountancy, Certificate in Commerce majoring in Accountancy, or Certificate in Finance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Collecting revenue at various revenue collection points, including gates, auctions and markets.
II. Maintaining accounting records.
III. Properly maintaining revenue collection machines (POS).
IV. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
V. Submitting collections to the Council’s accounts.
VI. Preparing and submitting daily revenue collection reports to the Revenue Accountant.
1.3 CLINICAL OFFICER II – 8 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Form IV/VI graduates who possess a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a college/institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Coordinating all activities performed by Assistant Clinical Officers.
II. Diagnosing and treating common diseases.
III. Supervising the performance of staff under their supervision and performing minor surgical procedures.
IV. Participating in planning and implementing Primary Health Care services, advising and mobilizing the community to contribute to health services through the Community Health Fund.
V. Maintaining records of medical equipment and service delivery tools, preparing and providing implementation reports.
VI. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
1.4 RADIOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST II – 1 POST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology/Radiography and be registered with the relevant professional council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Examining patients referred to their work area.
II. Maintaining radiology equipment and machines in their work area.
III. Checking X-ray images for quality and diagnostic adequacy.
IV. Keeping patients’ images until the results reach the referring doctors.
V. Supervising staff under their supervision and providing advice on radiology and radiation-related matters in their work area.
VI. Preparing medical/diagnostic equipment and supervising the sterilization of equipment in their work area.
VII. Providing induction training to staff assigned to work in their area.
VIII. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor related to their education, experience and skills.
1.5 PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST II – 10 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a college/institution recognized by the Government and be registered with the Pharmacy Council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Classifying, preparing and ordering medicines and medical supplies required in their work area.
II. Dispensing medicines and medical supplies to patients and staff.
III. Compounding medicines.
IV. Storing medicines and medical supplies.
V. Educating the community on the proper use of medicines.
VI. Inspecting medicines, medical supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics in their work area.
VII. Providing information on adverse effects resulting from the use of medicines.
VIII. Coordinating the activities of the hospital medicines committee.
IX. Preparing reports on the use of medicines and medical supplies.
X. Conducting quality assessments of medicines, medical supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics.
XI. Conducting various inspections in areas where medicines are stored.
XII. Supervising the performance of staff under their supervision.
XIII. Maintaining records of medicines and medical supplies.
XIV. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor related to their education, experience and skills.
1.6 LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST II – 7 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Diploma in Laboratory Technology from a college/institution recognized by the Government and be registered with the relevant Laboratory Council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Testing specimens submitted to the laboratory.
II. Preserving specimens that require further examination or referral to higher-level laboratories.
III. Conducting laboratory, reagent, equipment, chemical and chemical-storage inspections.
IV. Maintaining laboratory records obtained during examinations.
V. Training staff under their supervision.
VI. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor related to their education, experience and skills.
1.7 DRIVER II – 4 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess Form IV education and a Class E or C driving licence, with at least one (1) year of driving experience without causing an accident, together with training certificates that qualify the applicant to obtain the respective licence class. Must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or another institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to determine its safety condition.
II. Transporting staff to various locations on official trips.
III. Performing minor vehicle repairs.
IV. Completing and maintaining records of all trips in the journey logbook.
V. Collecting and distributing various documents.
VI. Cleaning the vehicle.
1.8 HEALTH ASSISTANT – 10 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Form IV graduates who possess a Health Assistant or Environmental Health Technician training certificate from a college/institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Cleaning work equipment, wards and the surrounding environment.
II. Assisting patients with disabilities and those who are unable to help themselves to use the toilet and bathe.
III. Assisting patients who are unable to feed themselves.
IV. Collecting patients’ clothes and taking them for washing.
V. Collecting patient specimens for laboratory tests and following up on results.
VI. Preparing equipment for cleaning and dressing wounds.
1.9 ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT OFFICER – 1 POST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Diploma in Supplies and Procurement and a certificate from a college/institution recognized by the Government, and must also be registered with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Maintaining the equipment store.
II. Receiving new equipment delivered by various suppliers and receiving used equipment that requires storage before disposal.
III. Opening and maintaining a ledger for recording equipment received for storage and issued through various documents.
IV. Issuing equipment to customers and other users.
V. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
1.10 ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER II – 5 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Diploma in Nursing from a college/institution recognized by the Government and be registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Providing nursing services.
II. Collecting important health statistics.
III. Directing the work of nurses under their supervision.
IV. Educating patients and the community about their health problems.
V. Providing preventive and reproductive health services.
VI. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
VII. Performing duties related to their education, experience and skills.
1.11 NURSE II – 6 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a two-year Nursing Certificate from a college/institution recognized by the Government and be enrolled with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Providing nursing care services to clients in the community, hospitals and all places where health services are provided.
II. Supervising and coordinating the work of all health care attendants in their work area.
III. Collecting statistics and preparing performance reports.
IV. Providing home-based care to patients.
V. Providing counselling services.
VI. Providing preventive and family planning services.
VII. Providing maternal and child health services.
VIII. Educating patients and the community about their health problems.
IX. Monitoring the proper care and maintenance of working tools in their work areas.
X. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor related to their education, experience and skills.
1.12 SOUND TECHNICIAN – 1 POST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Diploma/Degree in Sound Engineering, Audio Engineering or a related field from a college/institution recognized by the Government, and must have skills in using sound equipment such as mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, DJ equipment and other sound equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Operating and managing sound systems.
II. Using and maintaining equipment such as microphones, audio recorders and mixers in their work.
III. Conducting sound checks before events.
IV. Identifying and correcting sound problems.
V. Maintaining and carrying out repairs on sound equipment and screens.
1.13 MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC II – 1 POST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Form IV graduate with a Trade Test Grade II/CBET II certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics from VETA or another college/institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Carrying out preventive maintenance of clutches, gearboxes, brake systems and other systems.
II. Diagnosing and identifying problems in vehicles and machinery and carrying out repairs.
III. Testing the quality of vehicles and machinery after repairs.
IV. Ensuring proper maintenance of tools used in vehicle and machinery workshops.
V. Working with other employees to achieve the organization’s objectives.
VI. Performing other duties as directed by the supervisor.
1.14 LEGAL OFFICER – 1 POST
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree and certificate, and must have attended Law School.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Vetting Council contracts.
II. Handling minor cases in courts and appeal cases before the High Court involving the Council.
III. Performing other duties assigned by the employer.
1.15 SECURITY GUARD – 39 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Form IV graduate who has successfully completed training in the National Service (JKT), police, militia or Fire and Rescue services from a college/institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Ensuring that any office property taken through the gate has an authorization document.
II. Ensuring that all property brought through the gate has valid supporting documents.
III. Protecting the security of buildings, offices and office property during the day and night.
IV. Ensuring that all doors and windows are properly closed at the end of working hours.
V. Ensuring that all visitors entering the office premises have authorization to do so.
VI. Responding to emergencies occurring at the workplace, such as fire, floods, etc., and reporting them to the relevant authorities.
1.16 OFFICE ASSISTANT – 6 POSTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Form IV graduate who has attended a short course in any of the following areas: Office Attendant Course, Office Management, Messengerial Course or Office Clerk from any college/institution recognized by the Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Cleaning the external and internal office environment, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, cutting grass, weeding gardens, watering gardens, planting flowers or trees and cleaning toilets.
II. Arranging and storing office equipment in appropriate places.
III. Opening office doors and windows in the morning and closing them after working hours.
IV. Preparing and submitting reports on damaged equipment.
V. Performing other duties related to their cadre as directed by the supervisor.
