VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR VOLUNTARY CONTRACT POSITIONS
INFORMATION ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
Songwe Regional Referral Hospital is one of the Regional Referral Hospitals under the Ministry of Health. It was established in 2018 and is guided by the 2018 Guidelines for the Operation of Regional Referral Hospitals. The hospital is located in Songwe Region, Mbozi District, Hasamba Ward. The hospital is located in the Nsenya area, approximately four (4) kilometres from the main road.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE VOLUNTARY CONTRACT POSITIONS
The Medical Officer In-Charge of Songwe Regional Referral Hospital wishes to announce voluntary job opportunities to all Tanzanians who meet the required qualifications and have a genuine interest in working at Songwe Regional Referral Hospital under a one-year contract in the respective positions as follows:-
1.0 MEDICAL OFFICER GRADE II (4 POSTS)
1.1 QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have completed Form Four (IV) or Form Six (VI) and hold a Degree in Medicine from a University/College recognized by the Government, have completed Internship and obtained registration from the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. To perform all medical duties in the hospital related to various diseases, including paediatric diseases, maternal diseases, and routine and emergency surgery.
ii. To provide and supervise health education as well as improve community health in the District and Region or assigned working area.
iii. To investigate, monitor and control disease outbreaks.
iv. To maintain statistics and use them as directed in accordance with MTUHA principles.
v. To plan and assess health services in the assigned working area.
vi. To teach students and staff in the working area.
vii. To supervise and provide guidance to employees under his/her supervision.
viii. To teach students in health colleges located in the assigned working area.
ix. To design and conduct research and disseminate the results.
x. To design and prepare strategies for improving the quality of services in his/her professional field.
xi. To prepare plans and budget estimates for health services.
xii. To participate in reviewing and improving health services through medical audit and quality improvement.
xiii. To provide outreach services in his/her District/Region.
xiv. To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
2.0 STATISTICIAN GRADE II (1 POST)
2.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have completed Form Four (IV) or Form Six (VI) and hold a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics or Mathematics or equivalent qualifications from a University recognized by the Government and possess skills in Information Communication Technology.
2.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. To design and develop a national system for collecting and coordinating statistics.
ii. To develop procedures for collecting statistics as well as procedures for sampling.
iii. To collect, analyse and submit statistics to higher levels.
iv. To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
3.0 ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT GRADE II (1 POST)
3.1 QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have completed Form Four (IV) or Form Six (VI) and hold a Diploma in Accounting from a College recognized by the Government, together with a computer certificate. Applicants with experience in using computers will be given priority.
3.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. To work at the customer payment section.
ii. To prepare control numbers for customers.
iii. To issue payment receipts after customers have paid for services.
iv. To follow up on debts in the wards for customers who have not paid for services.
v. To prepare revenue reports at the end of the working shift and hand them over to the incoming accountant and Head of the Unit.
vi. To reconcile revenue in the revenue systems and bank accounts.
vii. The applicant must be ready to work morning, afternoon and night shifts.
viii. To perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor related to his/her education, experience and skills.
4.0 HEALTH ASSISTANT (3 POSTS)
4.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have completed Form Four and hold a certificate in Health Assistant or Environmental Health Technician training from a college recognized by the Government. Applicants with a Certificate in Community Health will be given priority.
4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. To clean working equipment, wards and the surrounding environment.
ii. To assist patients with disabilities and those unable to help themselves in using the toilet for bowel and bladder functions and bathing.
iii. To assist in feeding patients who are unable to feed themselves.
iv. To collect patients' clothes and take them for washing.
v. To collect patient samples for laboratory investigations and follow up on the results.
vi. To transport patients between departments within the health facility.
vii. To take care of cleaning equipment.
viii. To prepare equipment for cleaning and dressing wounds.
ix. To follow up on patients' medicine requirements from the pharmacy store.
x. To perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
5.0 ASSISTANT CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICER (2 POSTS)
5.1 QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have completed Form Four (IV) or Form Six (VI) and hold a Diploma in Entrepreneurship, Customer Service Management, Business Administration majoring in Marketing, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Communications, Journalism, Mass Communications or other related fields from a college/university recognized by the Government.
5.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. To receive and respond to customers' concerns, questions and requests before, during and after receiving services, with the aim of ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving their needs.
ii. To participate in handling and resolving customer complaints.
iii. To participate in providing information required by customers.
iv. To respond to customers' telephone calls and various concerns.
v. To receive and forward customer complaints to relevant officers or experts for appropriate action.
vi. To maintain records of communications and transactions involving customers.
vii. To participate in providing education to customers about services offered by Songwe Regional Referral Hospital (Songwe RRH).
viii. To perform other duties related to his/her cadre as directed by the supervisor.
GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR ALL APPLICANTS
i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years.
ii. Each applicant must attach a Curriculum Vitae with a correct address, correct telephone numbers, as well as the names of two referees who are Government employees and their reachable telephone numbers.
iii. Letters from two referees with their correct addresses and telephone numbers.
iv. Applicants must have relevant academic certificates. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results and Form Four result slips are NOT ACCEPTED.
v. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure that their certificates have been verified and approved by TCU or NACTE.
vi. Applicants must attach certified copies of the following certificates, certified by a Lawyer:
- Birth Certificate.
- Certificate of completion of Form Four education.
- Certificate of completion of Form Six education for those who completed Form Six.
- Professional Certificate.
- One Passport-size Photograph.
- Licence from the relevant professional councils.
vii. Each applicant must attach a copy of a NIDA identity card or NIDA number.
viii. Submission of forged information and qualifications will result in legal action being taken against the respective individuals.
ix. The deadline for submitting applications is 08/10/2026.
