The story
Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves - as a healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes - the community and the most vulnerable. CCBRT is Tanzania’s largest local provider of disability and rehabilitation services in the country. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Its recently opened Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral center for high risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

Health Volunteer – Laboratory Technologist / Scientist

Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.
To strengthen our Laboratory department, CCBRT is looking for a dynamic and experienced Laboratory Technologist / Scientist (Health Volunteer) to provide clinical laboratory services at CCBRT.
The role
As a Lab Technologist / Scientist you will be expected to run all medical laboratory tests and maintain the quality management system as required in the laboratory and Blood Bank. You will also be expected to collect samples from patients on time and label them before sending them to the lab processing room, prepare reagents for routine examination of laboratory samples, ensure all samples for investigation are kept in safe custody and maintain records of all investigations carried out, review and approve all laboratory results before they are released.
You will also implement Internal and External Quality Controls (IQC & EQC). Engage in the implementation of the laboratory quality management system including ensuring implementation of the routine preventive maintenance schedule for laboratory equipment.
The positions are offered under CCBRT health volunteer’s terms and conditions.
The candidate

Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science, with one year internship or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science

Fully registered with the Tanzania Health Laboratory Practitioner Council
-
One year post-intern experience
-
Computer literate
-
Good communication skills in English and Swahili
-
Flexible, multitasking, proactive and eager to learn.
